چکیده

Two serologically distinct antibodies directed against different antigenic sites on the Group A carbohydrate were detected in human sera by agglutination techniques. Agglutinins with A-variant specificity were demonstrable by the direct agglutination of purified A-variant cell walls, whereas indirect Coombs-type agglutinins with Group A specificity were demonstrable with Group A cell walls. Selective adsorption with homologous cell walls as well as inhibition studies with the soluble carbohydrates confirmed the specificity of the two types of agglutinins. There was an obvious correlation between the magnitude of the antistreptolysin O titer, and the direct Group A-variant and the indirect Group titers. These data suggest that indirect anti-Group A agglutinins and direct anti-Group A-variant agglutinins are produced following a Group A streptococcal infection.

Detection of group B streptococcal antibodies in human sera by radioimmunoassay: concentrations of type-specific antibodies in sera of adults and infants infected with group B streptococci.

Current interest in determining the possible protective role of antibodies against group B streptococcal disease prompted this study of the feasibility of using a radioimmunoassay to measure type-specific immunity in humans. The radioimmunoassay was standardized as a quantitative test for antibodies against the carbohydrate (CHO) antigens of all five group B types. The data showed that the CHO ...

The Determination of Antibody to Group a Streptococcal Polysaccharide in Human Sera by Hemagglutination

A hemagglutination method employing tanned human O erythrocytes sensitized with purified Group A streptococcal polysaccharide has been developed to measure A polysaccharide antibody in antistreptococcal rabbit and human sera. The reaction of sensitized RBC with known Group A streptococcal rabbit antisera, inhibition of hemagglutination with A polysaccharide, and abolition of hemagglutination an...

Microtiter indirect hemagglutination procedure for identification of streptococcal M-protein antibodies.

A number of investigators have attempted to utilize the hemagglutination system for detection of streptococcal type-specific antibody in human sera. Cross-reactions have made the procedure unreliable without cumbersome and time-consuming manipulation of the test sera. A method is described in which a microtiter indirect hemagglutination technique, using sensitized sheep erythrocytes, is sensiti...

Monoclonal and Polyclonal Antibodies Specific to Human Fibromodulin

Background: The unique expression of fibromodulin (FMOD) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been previously reported. Detecting FMOD in CLL patients using specific anti-FMOD mAbs might provide a promising method in detection, monitoring, and prognosis of CLL. Objectives: In this study, we aimed for producing specific antibodies agains...

Evaluation of micro complement fixation tests for antibodies against group A streptococcal M and M-associated antigens in rabbit and human sera.

Variables involved in micro complement fixation (CF) tests for type-specific (TSM) and non-type-specific (NTSM) antibodies against preparations of streptococcal M protein were studied. Sera of rabbits immunized with purified M protein which contained high titers of anti-TSM and low titers of anti-NTSM antibodies reacted type specifically in the CF tests when relatively low concentrations of M p...
