چکیده
Derek Duggan In vivo microleakage evaluation of two root-filling materials in teeth without a coronal seal (Under the direction of Dr. Martin Trope) Two carrier-based materials were compared to assess their resistance to coronal microleakage in a dog model when no coronal seal was present. Histologic evidence of inflammation and infection were the outcome parameters used. Experimental teeth were filled with carrier-based Resilon® (Epiphany®, n=25) or with carrier-based gutta-percha (Thermafil®, n=25) and were left exposed for four months. One control group received a coronal seal over Epiphany® or Thermafil® root fillings. A second control group was instrumented and left empty.

Background and Aims: The seal provided by a root canal filling may be compromised by post space preparation. The aim of this study was to compare coronal microleakage around cast posts and prefabricated pins. Materials and Methods: Thirty-eight extracted single-rooted, maxillary human teeth were prepared with step back method and filled with gutta-percha and sealer. After removing 8 mm of coro...

Background and Aim: Achieving appropriate seal in canal obturation is the main goal of endodontic therapy. However, in some cases, it can not be obtained by non-surgical procedures alone. Retrograde surgery is one of the most common procedures in endodontics. Apical seal improvement can be obtained by root end filling and decreasing the root end resection angle (bevel angle). The aim of this st...

UNLABELLED The development and maintenance of the sealing of the root canal system is the key to the success of root canal treatment. The resin-based adhesive material has the potential to reduce the microleakage of the root canal because of its adhesive properties and penetration into dentinal walls. Moreover, the irrigation protocols may have an influence on the adhesiveness of resin-based se...

Objective: Root canal obturation is an important step in endodontic therapy aiming at achieving a complete three-dimensional seal of the canal and preventing microleakage, reentry or growth of microorganisms in the root canal system. Several techniques and materials are available for root canal filling. Achieving an apical seal is among the most important characteristics of filling materials....
