Brain abscess: an atypical CT appearance of CNS tuberculosis.

چکیده
Brain abscess is an extremely rare manifestation of tuberculous involvement of the CNS; meningitis and tuberculoma are much more common [1-6]. The CT appearance of tuberculous abscess cannot be distinguished from many other entities that can present as a ring-enhancing lesion, such as pyogenic abscess, primary or metastatic neoplasm, or resolving hematoma. However, given the appropriate history one can suggest the correct diagnosis. We present an unusual case in which there was coexistence of supratentorial tuberculomas with an infratentorial tuberculous abscess.

Background and Importance Cerebral phaeohyphomycosis is a rare but frequently fatal clinical entity caused by dematiaceous fungi like Cladophialophora bantiana. Clinical signs and symptoms related to fungal brain abscess can be subtle, and its imaging appearance may be indistinguishable from those of other intracranial mass lesions. Still, recognition of typical imaging patterns on CT and MRI ...

Central nervous system (CNS) tuberculosis is a serious form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. CNS tuberculosis can present as meningitis, arachnoiditis, tuberculomas or the uncommon form of tuberculous subdural empyema and brain abscess. We present the clinical, radiological and pathological findings, and report on the successful treatment of an immunocompetent patient diagnosed with probable tub...

Listeriosis is one of the CNS inflammatory diseases which is happened majority in the form of sporadic. Listeriosis is ingested with the food. Infection occurrence in an exposed person depends on the number of organisms ingested, the virulence of the organisms strain and the individual condition. It is known that Listeriosis has decisive importance as an infection which the cellular immunodefen...
متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Imaging Findings of Isolated Hepatic Tuberculoma: A Diagnostic Dilemma
Extrapulmonary tuberculosis, constitutes almost one-fifth of all tuberculosis cases and less than 1% of all cases involving liver. Here we report a case of isolated hepatic tuberculoma mimicking solitary liver mass on MRI, recovered with antiTB treatment. The radiologic features of hepatic tuberculoma can mimic liver tumors, cholangiocarcinomas, liver abscess and hydatid cyst, or may present wi...
