چکیده

AIM To investigate that the increased intracapsular pressure, during the delay period, can interrupt the blood flow to the femoral head. METHODS An observational retrospective study included a group of 17 patients with traumatic hip dislocation, their ages at time of injury averaged 26 (range from 3 to 70) years. Outcomes were assessed clinically and radiographically at a period averaged 11.5 (range from 4 to 20) years. RESULTS Minor trauma caused dislocation in seven and severe trauma in ten patients. All dislocations were posterior, six isolated dislocation and 11 were associated with other injuries. The negligence period averaged 2.5 (ranged from 1 to 4) d. At the latest visit, the radiography revealed normal hip in 11 and avascular necrosis (AVN) in six patients. Clinically, eight patients were rated as excellent, three good, three fair and three poor. CONCLUSION We believe the factors that contribute to increased intracapsular pressure also increase the influence of delayed reduction toward the development of AVN.

Intracapsular pressure and interleukin-1β cytokine in hips with acetabular dysplasia

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Several studies have demonstrated an increased intracapsular pressure in several hip disorders such as septic arthritis, synovitis, and trauma. We therefore measured the intracapsular pressure in different positions in early dysplasic hips and its relation to the concentration of interleukin-1beta (IL- 1beta), the volume of joint fluid, and the clinical and radiographic f...

Pseudo-Acetabulum due to Heterotopic Ossification in a Child with Post Traumatic Neglected Posterior Hip Dislocation

INTRODUCTION Traumatic neglected dislocations of hip in children are rare entity. Neglected traumatic dislocations of hip in children along with heterotopic ossification are still rare. Post traumatic neglected hip dislocations are to be diagnosed as early as possible and have to be treated with precision and aggression as the outcome of treatment for the same is not predictable. Decreasing incidence of femoral neck fractures in the Medicare population.

This study was designed to evaluate trends in incidence and treatment patterns for intracapsular hip fractures and to evaluate risk factors for complications and mortality. Patients with an intracapsular hip fracture who underwent internal fixation, hemiarthroplasty, or total hip arthroplasty (THA) were identified from a 5% nationwide sample of Medicare data (1998-2007). The authors identified ...
