چکیده

Given two shapes in relative motion, an important class of inverse configuration problems are solved by determining relative configurations that maintain set-inclusion relationships (non-interference, containment, or contact) between the shapes. This class of inverse problems includes the well-known problem of constructing a configuration space obstacle, as well as many other problems in computational design such as sweep decomposition, accessibility analysis, and dynamic packaging. We show that solutions to such problems may be efficiently approximated directly in the 6D configuration space SE(3) of relative motions by adaptive sampling. The proposed method relies on a well-known fact that the manifold of the group SE(3) is a Cartesian product of two manifold subgroups: the group of rotations SO(3) and the group of translations R. This property allows generating desired configurations by combining samples that are generated in these subgroups independently and adaptively. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach on several inverse problems including the problem of sweep decomposition that arises in reverse engineering applications.

A regularization method for solving a nonlinear backward inverse heat conduction problem using discrete mollification method

The present essay scrutinizes the application of discrete mollification as a filtering procedure to solve a nonlinear backward inverse heat conduction problem in one dimensional space. These problems are seriously ill-posed. So, we combine discrete mollification and space marching method to address the ill-posedness of the proposed problem. Moreover, a proof of stability and<b...

Configuration products and quotients in geometric modeling

The six-dimensional space SE(3) is traditionally associated with the space of configurations of a rigid solid (a subset of Euclidean three-dimensional space R3). But a solid itself can be also considered to be a set of configurations, and therefore a subset of SE(3). This observation removes the artificial distinction between shapes and their configurations, and allows formulation and solution ...

Entropy Maximization as a Basis for Information Recovery in Dynamic Economic Behavioral Systems

As a basis for information recovery in open dynamic microeconomic systems, we emphasize the connection between adaptive intelligent behavior, causal entropy maximization and self-organized equilibrium seeking behavior. This entropy-based causal adaptive behavior framework permits the use of information-theoretic methods as a solution basis for the resulting pure and stochastic inverse economic-...

Randomize-Then-Optimize: A Method for Sampling from Posterior Distributions in Nonlinear Inverse Problems

High-dimensional inverse problems present a challenge for Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC)-type sampling schemes. Typically, they rely on finding an efficient proposal distribution, which can be difficult for large-scale problems, even with adaptive approaches. Moreover, the autocorrelations of the samples typically increase with dimension, which leads to the need for long sample chains. We pres...

An adaptive inverse scale space method for compressed sensing

In this paper we introduce a novel adaptive approach for solving `-minimization problems as frequently arising in compressed sensing, which is based on the recently introduced inverse scale space method. The scheme allows to efficiently compute minimizers by solving a sequence of low-dimensional nonnegative least-squares problems. We provide a detailed convergence analysis in a general setup as...
