Power Control and Multiuser Diversity for the Distributed Cognitive Uplink

چکیده
This paper studies optimum power control and sum-rate scaling laws for the distributed cognitive uplink. It is first shown that the optimum distributed power control policy is in the form of a threshold based water-filling power control. Each secondary user executes the derived power control policy in a distributed fashion by using local knowledge of its direct and interference channel gains such that the resulting aggregate (average) interference does not disrupt primary’s communication. Then, the tight sum-rate scaling laws are derived as a function of the number of secondary users N under the optimum distributed power control policy. The fading models considered to derive sum-rate scaling laws are general enough to include Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami fading models as special cases. When transmissions of secondary users are limited by both transmission and interference power constraints, it is shown that the secondary network sum-rate scales according to 1 enh log log (N), where nh is a parameter obtained from the distribution of direct channel power gains. For the case of transmissions limited only by interference constraints, on the other hand, the secondary network sum-rate scales according to 1 eγg log (N), where γg is a parameter obtained from the distribution of interference channel power gains. These results indicate that the distributed cognitive uplink is able to achieve throughput scaling behavior similar to that of the centralized cognitive uplink up to a pre-log multiplier 1 e , whilst primary’s quality-of-service requirements are met. Optimal Multiuser Diversity in Multi-Cell MIMO Uplink Networks: User Scaling Law and Beamforming Design
We introduce a distributed protocol to achieve multiuser diversity in a multicell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) uplink network, referred to as a MIMO interfering multiple-access channel (IMAC). Assuming both no information exchange among base stations (BS) and local channel state information at the transmitters for the MIMO IMAC, we propose a joint beamforming and user scheduling protoc...

This paper addresses energy-efficient design for uplink multiuser SIMO systems with imperfect channel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS). Since the CSI at the BS is always imperfect due to the channel estimation error and delay, the imperfectness of the CSI needs to be considered in practical system design. It causes interuser interference at the zero-forcing (ZF) receiver and mak...

In this paper we investigate the sub-channel assignment and power control to maximize the total sum rate in the uplink of two-cell network. It is assumed that there are some sub-channels in each cell which should be allocated among some users. Also, each user is subjected to a power constraint. The underlying problem is a non-convex mixed integer non-linear optimization problem which does not h...
متن کاملExploiting Multiuser Diversity in Wireless ALOHA Networks
In wireless networks, diversity techniques are widely used to compensate for the unstable environment. Multiuser diversity has recently received attention in the literature. The idea of multiuser diversity has its roots in [1], where a centralized power control scheme for maximizing the information theoretic capacity of the uplink of a single cell is studied. The optimal strategy is shown to be...

Decoupling the uplink and downlink user association improves the throughput of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and balances the traffic load of macro- and small- base stations. Recently, fiber-wireless HetNets (FiWi-HetNets) have been considered as viable solutions for access networks. To improve the accuracy of user association and resource allocation algorithms in FiWi-HetNets, the capacity ...
