Equine sarcoidosis.

چکیده
Equine sarcoidosis seems to be an emerging problem. As more horses are referred for dermatologic disease, equine sarcoidosis should be considered in any case of exfoliative and/or nodular skin disease with or without systemic involvement, including generalized granulomatous disease affecting most internal organs. Multiple breeds are affected with mares being predisposed. Affected horses are typically 3 years or older. The prognosis for generalized granulomatous disease is generally poor, whereas the prognosis for the localized cutaneous form is favorable but may require lifelong treatment.

Generalized sarcoidosis in two horses.
Equine sarcoidosis is a rare disorder usually characterized by exfoliative dermatitis, moderate to severe wasting, and sarcoidal granulomatous inflammation of multiple organ systems. It has an unknown aetiopathogenesis. The condition is not related to equine sarcoid. This case report describes generalized cutaneous and systemic sarcoidosis in an 11-year-old Trakehner mare (case A) and in a 7-ye...
متن کاملCultural characteristics of a cell line derived from an equine sarcoid.
A cell line, derived from a spontaneous equine connective tissue tumor (equine sarcoid), has been established. The morphological and growth characteristics indicative of malignant transformation of the cells include a disoriented, rapid growth and loss of contact inhibition. Further evidence of transformation is the agglutination of these cells by concanavalin A and their ability to divide in s...
متن کاملThe Equine Sarcoid: an Update
Introduction The equine sarcoid is by far the commonest cutaneous neoplasm of horses and the risk factors that predispose to its development in an individual have only partially been identified. The disease is becoming more prevalent and yet there is still little interest in advancing research efforts. It affects horses of all ages, although the majority of cases are first presented between 2 a...
متن کاملLeader Human papillomavirus infection with particular reference to genital disease
Papillomaviruses were originally grouped together with the polyomaviruses in a single taxonomic group, the Papovaviridae. The division into two separate groups was based on genomic organisation, virion size (polyomaviruses being smaller (50 nm) than papillomaviruses (55 nm)), and on their diVering molecular patterns of replication. Papillomaviruses are epitheliotropic, with the exception of bov...
متن کاملA review of equine sarcoid
Equine sarcoid is the most common tumour of horses and accounts for over half of all equine skin tumours. Six types of sarcoid based on gross appearance and clinical behaviour have been described including occult, verrucous, nodular, fibroblastic, mixed and malevolent. Common locations for sarcoid development include the periocular region, ear pinnae, lips, neck, extremities and ventrum (includ...
