Spray deposition on plant surfaces: a modeling approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pesticides are widely used in agriculture for the management of pests (weeds, insects or pathogens). They are generally applied as a spray to cover the target (e.g. an insect, leaf surfaces or part of a plant) with pesticide-laden droplets. Spray may, however, be lost to nontarget areas within a crop through deposition on to the soil or on non-target plant surfaces. The plant architecture of the crop and weed species can influence the distribution of the spray droplets. The action of wind may also result in spray moving away from the spray area. By selecting and using spray equipment and techniques that maximise deposition of pesticides onto the target it is possible to both maximise the effectiveness of the pesticide application and reduce the amount of off-target deposition and damage.

متن کاملA demonstration of the antimicrobial effectiveness of various copper surfaces
BACKGROUND Bacterial contamination on touch surfaces results in increased risk of infection. In the last few decades, work has been done on the antimicrobial properties of copper and its alloys against a range of micro-organisms threatening public health in food processing, healthcare and air conditioning applications; however, an optimum copper method of surface deposition and mass structure h...
متن کاملInfluence of Spray Application Technique on Spray Deposition in Greenhouse Ivy Pot Plants Grown on Hanging Shelves
As a result of the decreasing availability of authorized plant protection products, adequate pest control becomes more difficult in many ornamental crops and almost no information is available about the optimization of spray application techniques in ornamental crops. Yet, spray boom systems—instead of the still predominantly used spray guns—might improve crop protection management in greenhous...
متن کاملUniform Coverage of Simple Surfaces Embedded in R3 for Auto-Body Painting
We develop a procedure for automated trajectory generation for robotic spray painting applications. Painting requires that the spray gun deposit paint at each point on the target surface such that the variation of the resultant paint deposition is within acceptable limits; we term this the uniform coverage problem. To understand the key issues in the uniform coverage problem, we consider surfac...
