چکیده

The software development process is described in terms of cost or effort via cost drivers. Some scenarios are inadequately addressed because the available elements to describe them become inappropriate. Those scenarios comprise a great amount of effort at the conception stage and at managing perspectives and relationships. This work explores several aspects not considered as cost drivers that could be relevant for the process. Data collected was analyzed to reveal if there is a significant enough relationship between them and the development cost and verify or refute the assumption that could allow these aspects to be presented as cost drivers. The investigation has been circumscribed to the web scope to delimit the work.

Proposed Modification to COSYSMO Estimating Relationship

This paper proposes a modification to the Academic COSYSMO estimating relationship to remedy a critical limitation in its current implementation of the cost drivers. The effort multipliers defined for these drivers have an overdramatic impact on the nominal effort, which unrealistically amplifies or compresses the effort estimate. This problem severely limits its practical applications. The new...

An Improved Fuzzy Approach for COCOMO's Effort Estimation Using Gaussian Membership Function

-In software industry Constructive Cost Model (COCOMO) is considered to be the most widely used model for effort estimation. Cost drivers have significant influence on the COCOMO and this research investigates the role of cost drivers in improving the precision of effort estimation. It is important to stress that uncertainty at the input level of the COCOMO yields uncertainty at the output, whi...

Sourcing through Auctions and Audits

Buyers often find that obtaining complete information about suppliers is costly. In such scenarios, there is a trade-off between the costs of obtaining information and the benefits that accrue to the owners of such information. There are also various ways in which the missing information can be obtained or inferred. In this paper, we compare the efficiency of obtaining information via the class...

Empirical validation of Software development effort multipliers of Intermediate COCOMO Model

Intermediate COCOMO Model computes effort as a function of program size and a set of cost drivers. Effort adjustment factor (EAF) is calculated using 15 cost drivers. EAF is an important significant factor in computing software development effort. We have taken one delivered development project of size of 479 function points and planned for 917 Person days of SEI CMM Level 5 “Excellent” Company...
