چکیده
The effects of Sarcoma 180, heterologous tissue implantation, and turpent ine treatment upon adrenal and liver adenine nueleotide-metabolizing enzymes were~ investigated. Adrenal 5'-nueleotidase act ivi ty was elevated significantly by progressive S-180 growth. No definite alteration in adrenal 5'-nueleotidase act ivi ty was induced by heterologous tissue implantation. Turpent ine t rea tment depressed adrenal 5'-nucleotidase act ivi ty. Liver 5'-nueleotidase act ivi ty was elevated by tumor growth but not altered by the other stresses studied. Sarcoma 180 caused a consistent increase in adrenal ATPase act ivi ty as compared with the daily control values. Heterologous tissue implantat ion and turpentineinduced stress did not affect adrenal ATPase levels. Liver ATPase act ivi ty was not significantly altered by any of the experimental conditions. A C T H t rea tment caused an increase in adrenal 5'-nucleotidase aetivity, correlating with the increased plasma eortieosterone levels measured. A C T t t t rea tment caused an initial decrease in ATPase activity, with subsequent elevation of enzyme act ivi ty after 6 days of t reatment . The relationship of these enzymes to adrenal function and the differences in response to various stress conditions are diseussed.

The effect of sarcoma 180 and other stressing agents upon adrenal nucleic acids.
The effects of Sarcoma 180, heterologous tissue implantation, and daily injections of turpentine upon adrenal and liver nucleic acids were investigated. Progressive tumor growth caused an initial elevation in adrenal ribonucleic acid (RNA) which was followed by a return to control levels. Adrenal deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) con centration was increased during most of the period of tumor growth....
متن کاملSynergistic Effect of 6-Mercaptopurine and 6-Methylmercaptopurine Ribonucleoside on the Levels of Adenine Nucleotides of Sarcoma 180 Cells1
The synergistic antitumor action of 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) and 6-methylmercaptopurine ribonucleoside (MMPR) is confirmed with Sarcoma 180 ascites cells. Striking decreases are seen in the adenine nucleotide concentrations in cells incubated for 1 hr with this drug combination, and lesser effects are seen on the guanine nucleotide concentrations. Still greater decreases in adenine nucleotide le...

متن کاملThe in vivo effects of adenine-induced chronic kidney disease on some renal and hepatic function and CYP450 metabolizing enzymes.
Adenine-induced model of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a widely used model especially in studies testing novel nephroprotective agents. We investigated the effects of adenine-induced CKD in rats on the activities of some xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes in liver and kidneys, and on some in vivo indicators of drug metabolism (viz pentobarbitone sleeping time, and plasma concentration of theophy...
متن کاملEvaluation of Porin Interaction with Adenine Nucleotide Translocase and Cyclophilin-D Proteins after Brain Ischemia and Reperfusion
Objective (s) Porin is a mitochondrial outer membrane channel, which usually functions as the pathway for the movement of various substances in and out of the mitochondria and is considered to be a component of the permeability transition (PT) pore complex that plays a role in the PT. We addressed the hypothesis that porin interacts with other mitochondrial proteins after ischemic injury. Mater...
