Metric interval temporal logic (MITL) provides a tool to formulate high level tasks in an easy way. This allows to specify behaviour of a dynamical system in a given environment which lies beyond the scope of simple stabilization. Finding an input of the system which satisfies the MITL formula, demands new techniques and algorithms. In this thesis, a novel approach is presented which abstracts the dynamical system into a time optimal weighted transition system (WTS) and converts the MITL formula into a Timed Büchi Automaton (TBA). From the graph product of the WTS and TBA a sequence of environment states together with time constraints is obtained. Together with a user specified cost function, the sequence is translated into an optimization problem. The solution of this final optimization problem satisfies the MITL formula for the dynamical system in the given environment and is obtained by using methods from optimal control.

Control Synthesis for Multi-Agent Systems under Metric Interval Temporal Logic Specifications

This paper presents a framework for automatic synthesis of a control sequence for multi-agent systems governed by continuous linear dynamics under timed constraints. First, the motion of the agents in the workspace is abstracted into individual Transition Systems (TS). Second, each agent is assigned with an individual formula given in Metric Interval Temporal Logic (MITL) and in parallel, the t...

Robustness of temporal logic specifications for continuous-time signals

In this paper, we consider the robust interpretation of Metric Temporal Logic (MTL) formulas over signals that take values in metric spaces. For such signals, which are generated by systems whose states are equipped with non-trivial metrics, for example continuous or hybrid, robustness is not only natural, but also a critical measure of system performance. Thus, we propose multi-valued semantic...

On Expressiveness and Complexity in Real-Time Model Checking

Metric Interval Temporal Logic (MITL) is a popular formalism for expressing real-time specifications. This logic achieves decidability by restricting the precision of timing constraints, in particular, by banning so-called punctual specifications. In this paper we introduce a significantly more expressive logic that can express a wide variety of punctual specifications, but whose model-checking...

Time-Bounded Verification of CTMCs against Real-Time Specifications

In this paper we study time-bounded verification of a finite continuoustime Markov chain (CTMC) C against a real-time specification, provided either as a metric temporal logic (MTL) property φ, or as a timed automaton (TA) A. The key question is: what is the probability of the set of timed paths of C that satisfy φ (or are accepted by A) over a time interval of fixed, bounded length? We provide...
