Traffic Noise: 1/f Characteristics
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, the study of traffic noise is presented from the point of view of 1/f noise. Samples of Traffic Noise are collected from selected locations from busy roads of Aurangabad city in Maharashtra state (India) and data is analyzed. It is observed that in many cases the traffic noise possesses pink noise (1/f noise) prevailing over appreciable range of frequency. The log log plot of noise power versus frequency results in a straight line with a slope approximately equal to unity confirming the presence of pink noise. After certain frequency, the noise power no longer behaves like pink noise (1/f noise) and becomes more or less constant with random fluctuations. Plots of noise power versus frequency on log log basis for different locations studied are presented and the inferences are discussed. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-4666-3890-7.ch006

Association of Road Traffic Noise Exposure and Driving Behaviors
Background: The noise caused by traffic is an increasingly prominent feature of urban environments. However, limited studies have been focused on the assessment of exposure-response relationship between road traffic noise exposure and driving behaviors in Iran. The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of the violations caused by road traffic noise exposure in Qazvin, Iran. Methods...
متن کاملSound-masking technique for combined noise exposure in open public spaces
A sound-masking technique was applied to minimize the annoyance in open public spaces exposed to combined noise sources. The noises were recorded binaurally through artificial head microphones from the building construction sites with nearby roads. Sound quality (SQ) parameters as well as spectral and temporal characteristics of the noises were investigated. For the auditory tests to evaluate t...
متن کاملNoise Pollution and Traffic Noise Index on Mashhad Main Streets during the Busiest Hours of Summer
Introduction: Among the environmental pollutions, noise is very important for its physiological and psychological effects on human. Traffic noise is one of the most important pollutants and the hospitals are one of the critical places regarding this type of noise. For these reasons, in the summer of 1382, the traffic noise of Mashhad main streets around the hospit...
متن کاملPlasticity in the vocalizations of anurans in response to traffic noise
Many species use acoustic signals to attract mates, and such signals can be degraded by anthropogenic noise. Anuran abundance has been shown to be negatively correlated with road traffic which could be due in part to the interruption of mate attraction by traffic noise. However, this impact could be small if anurans can alter their vocalization characteristics to avoid masking of their calls by...
متن کاملAcoustic Environment in the Bus: an Empirical Study
Traffic snarl-up or traffic jam is a common phenomenon in Puri, one of the imperative pilgrimage sites for Hindus as well as a popular tourist destination in India. Traffic congestion inevitably produces traffic noise, in turn annoying the drivers, leading to road rage. Keeping this in mind, the present article has monitored and assessed different noise descriptors in 7 different types of buses...
