Bandwidth Allocation Strategies for Wireless Atm Networks Using Predictive Reservation

In future wireless networks such as the Wireless ATM networks, it is important to guarantee quality-of-service (QOS) for mobile terminals. However, guaranteeing QOS while ensuring high bandwidth utilization is di cult because of the unpredictable nature of the terminals mobility pattern. In this paper, we propose a new scheme to improve the QOS of Wireless ATM networks by using predictive reservation of bandwidth from mobility patterns dynamically. We will propose a scheme that use this predictive framework and evaluate their performance. Simulation results show that under heavy load conditions, our proposed scheme will reduce the hand-o dropping probabilities by a signi cant amount while resulting in only a small increase in the blocking probabilities and a minimal sacri ce in bandwidth utilization.
