چکیده

Spatial data infrastructures (SDI) have been widely accepted to share geospatial data among organizations. Today SDI’s main focus lies on distributed data storage in the form of spatial web services, the retrieval through catalogues, and the visualization in form of web map services. The hypothesis presented in this paper takes SDI’s one step further by providing a method to process geodata, in an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant way, into information. It addresses the problem of service chaining by providing a system architecture to process data into information using Business Processes. The proposed methods utilize spatial standards provided by OGC, International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) and ‘mainstream IT’ standards provided by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to achieve highly complex service chains with geoprocessing capabilities. In companion with semantic description of service’s metadata, a self-organizing net can be established. Two case studies present the potential of standardized geoprocessing services. The result is a generic service for providing common geoinformation capabilities (e.g. spatial algorithms, Map Algebra etc.) for using in next level SDI.

Knowledge Bases in Spatial Data Infrastructures – A new Level of Decision Support

Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) define a framework that allows online access to distributed geographic data and geoprocessing capabilities. They are typically based on distributed web services and aim to be a complementary approach to the predominating local management and processing of data sets. SDIs develop their real performance on national or international scales only in case that cross...

Integrating Knowledge Bases into SDI’s

Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) define a framework that allows on-line access to distributed geographic data and geoprocessing functionalities, though only very few standardized processing capabilities are yet usable. For the modeler, providing a sophisticated application in form of a web service using interoperable frameworks means that he has to be in expert not only in his knowledge domai...

Integration of GRASS Functionality in Web based SDI Service Chains

Bringing the full set of GIS (Geographical Information System) functionality into a SOA (Service-oriented Architecture) based environment is one of the substantial changes in the GIS domain. Standardized data access and coordinate transformation and visualization functionality are already available and commonly used in Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). Nevertheless, one problem still remains:...

Designing Service Architectures for Distributed Geoprocessing: Challenges and Future Directions

In this paper we study the feasibility of using services offered by a Spatial Data Infrastructure as a basis for distributed service oriented geoprocessing. By developing a prototype we demonstrate that a Spatial Data Infrastructure facilitates rapid development of applications that solve typical problems for an existing risk management application. The prototype provides users with a distribut...

A Dynamically Load and Unload Enabled Aggregation Model Based on the Wps

The processing of web-based spatial data is an important issue in the field of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). After analyzing the architecture of the fundamental conception and application supported by the OGC Web Processing Service specification, a common loading and unloading enabled aggregation model is designed, this provides the ability to conflate of geoprocessing service chains dyna...
