چکیده

The few known γ-ray binary systems are all associated with variable radio and Xray emission. The TeV source HESS J0632+057, apparently associated with the Be star MWC148, is plausibly a new member of this class. Following the identification of a variable X-ray counterpart to the TeV source we conducted GMRT and VLA observations in June-September 2008 to search for the radio counterpart of this object. A point-like radio source at the position of the star is detected in both 1280MHz GMRT and 5GHz VLA observations, with an average spectral index, α, of ∼0.6. In the VLA data there is significant flux variability on ∼month timescales around the mean flux density of ≈0.3 mJy. These radio properties (and the overall spectral energy distribution) are consistent with an interpretation of HESS J0632+057 as a lower power analogue of the established γ-ray binary systems.

Hess J 0632 + 057 : a New Gamma - Ray Binary ?

The H.E.S.S. survey of the Galactic plane has established the existence of a substantial number (∼40) of Galactic TeV γ-ray sources, a large fraction of which remain unidentified. HESS J0632+057 is one of a small fraction of these objects which is point-like in nature (< 2 ′ rms), and is one of only two point-like sources that remain unidentified. Follow-up observations of this object with XMM-...

VERITAS observations of HESS J0632+057

HESS J0632+057 is one of only two unidentified high energy gamma-ray sources which appear to be point-like in nature. It is possibly associated with the massive star MWC 148 and has been suggested to resemble known TeV binary systems like LS I +61 303 or LS 5039. These binaries are rare and extreme (only three TeV binaries are known to date), and their gamma-ray emission mechanism has not been ...

Discovery of the Radio and X-ray Counterpart of Tev Γ-ray Source Hess J1731-347

We discover a faint shell-type radio and X-ray source, G353.6-0.7, associated with HESS J1731-347. G353.6-0.7 is likely an old supernova remnant (SNR), based on radio (0.8 GHz, 1.4 GHz and 5 GHz), infrared (8 µm from the GLIMPSE Legacy Project and 21 µm from the Midcourse Space Experiment), and X-ray (0.1 keV-2.4 keV from the ROSAT survey and 5-20 keV from the INTEGRAL survey) data. The SNR, ce...

Evidence for long-term Gamma-ray and X-ray variability from the unidentified TeV source HESS J0632+057

HESS J0632+057 is one of only two unidentified very-high-energy gamma-ray sources which appear to be point-like within experimental resolution. It is possibly associated with the massive Be star MWC 148 and has been suggested to resemble known TeV binary systems like LS I +61 303 or LS 5039. HESS J0632+057 was observed by VERITAS for 31 hours in 2006, 2008 and 2009. During these observations, n...

Identification of a Likely Radio Counterpart of the Rapid Burster

We have identified a likely radio counterpart to the low-mass X-ray binary MXB 1730−335 (the Rapid Burster). The counterpart has shown 8.4 GHz radio on/off behavior correlated with the X-ray on/off behavior as observed by the RXTE/ASM during six VLA observations. The probability of an unrelated, randomly varying background source duplicating this behavior is 1–3% depending on the correlation ti...
