چکیده

This is obtained by equating the elements in the first column and first row of the l-matrix with the corresponding element in its product representation obtained by combining any two commensurate 11Z-matrices according to the group property. 6. Ontogenetics. At first appearance, the generalized invariant imbedding relation may seem to have no foundation in the established principles of radiative and neutron transport theory. That is, it appears to have been assembled in an ad hoc manner by means of some examples and an intuitively based inductive leap from the classical principles of invariance. However, recent work in the theory of general radiative processes on arbitrary discrete spaces has provided a firm foundation for not only the discrete version of (i) but its most general counterpart in an arbitrary discrete space.6 Furthermore, the basis for a rigorous derivation in either the discrete or continuous case is given in reference 7. Thus, while not all details have as yet been worked out, there now exists a complete analytical basis for the development of the concept of invariance, as used in the radiative and neutron transport contexts, from the classical R and T operator level through the invariant imbedding relation level up to the generalized level discussed in this note.

Tolerance of CD8+ T cells developing in parent-->F1 chimeras prepared with supralethal irradiation: step-wise induction of tolerance in the intrathymic and extrathymic environments

Tolerance of CD8+ cells was examined in parent-->F1 bone marrow chimeras (BMC) prepared with supralethal irradiation; host class I expression in the chimeras was limited to non-BM-derived cells. In terms of helper-independent proliferative responses in vitro and induction of graft-vs.-host disease on adoptive transfer, CD8+ cells from long-term chimeras showed profound tolerance to host antigen...

Induction of specific tissue transplantation tolerance using fractionated total lymphoid irradiation in adult mice: long-term survival of allogeneic bone marrow and skin grafts

BALB/c mice were treated with fractionated high dose (3,400 rads) total lymphoid irradiation (TLI), and given semiallogeneic (BALB/c x C57BL/Ka) or allogeneic (C57BL/Ka) bone marrow and/or skin allografts. TLI alone prolonged the mean survival time (m.s.t.) of C57BL/Ka skin grafts to 49.1 days (control, 10.7 days). Shielding of the thymus during TLI produced only a slight increase in graft surv...

Effects of T cell depletion in radiation bone marrow chimeras. II. Requirement for allogeneic T cells in the reconstituting bone marrow inoculum for subsequent resistance to breaking of tolerance

The ability of normal recipient-type lymphocytes to break tolerance in long-term allogenic radiation chimeras has been investigated. Reconstitution of lethally irradiated mice with a mixture of syngeneic and allogeneic T cell-depleted (TCD) bone marrow (BM) has previously been shown to lead to mixed chimerism and permanent, specific tolerance to donor and host alloantigen (3-5). If allogeneic T...

Graft-host tolerance in bone marrow transplant chimeras. Absence of graft-versus-host disease is associated with unresponsiveness to minor histocompatibility antigens expressed by all tissues.

Because bone marrow (BM) transplantation is used with increasing frequency, it is important to elucidate the mechanisms involved in the establishment of tolerance to host minor histocompatibility antigens (MiHA) in recipients transplanted with T-cell-undepleted marrow grafts. We have previously shown that BM chimeras transplanted across MiHA barriers showed specific unresponsiveness to MiHA exp...

I-18: Avian Chimeras and Germ Cell Migration

Background: In avian species, the germ line stem cell population arises outside of the embryonic gonad and proceeds on a circuitous migration to the germinal epithelium. Specifically, in the avian embryo, the process of germ line stem cell migration proceeds through a series of active and passive migratory phases. The germline stem cells or primordial germ cells (PGCs) located in the epiblast o...
