Analyzing Mobile Agent Scalability in Network Management

چکیده
This paper aims to investigate mobile agent scalability in network management in order to nd when mobile agents can improve the management e ciency Mobile agent performance is compared with the SNMP one in management task simulations Response time results show that the mobile agent is less sensitive to the latency and the bandwidth of a bottleneck link that connects the management station to a remote LAN but the mobile agent is more in uenced by the task to be performed The results also show that the mobile agent performs better when the number of managed network elements ranges between two limits an inferior bound associated with the number of messages that traverse the bottleneck link and a superior bound related to the incremental size of the mobile agent which turns migration di cult Moreover the performance increases when the agent returns to the management station after visiting a xed number of nodes

An Overview of Group Key Management Issues in IEEE 802.16e Networks
The computer industry has defined the IEEE 802.16 family of standards that will enable mobile devices to access a broadband network as an alternative to digital subscriber line technology. As the mobile devices join and leave a network, security measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the network against unauthorized usage by encryption and group key management. IEEE 802.16e uses Multica...

The ability to discover services in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a major prerequisite. Cluster basedcross layer intelligent service discovery for MANET (CBISD) is cluster based architecture, caching ofsemantic details of services and intelligent forwarding using network layer mechanisms. The cluster basedarchitecture using semantic knowledge provides scalability and accuracy. Also, the mini...
متن کاملEvaluating the Performance of Mobile Agents in Network Management
Currently, most network management systems are centralized and therefore, they can not scale when the size or the complexity of the network increases. This paper aims to investigate mobile agent scalability in network management, in order to nd when mobile agents improve the management eeciency. We compare mobile agent performance with SNMP one in several simulations. Results show that the mobi...
متن کاملDistributed Network Management Architectures: A Review
Network management system leads to centralized system based on SNMP or CMIP management protocol, which does not solve the problem of scalability and flexibility. So a distributed paradigm is followed to make the system decentralized to perform management functions when network start growing significantly. Several distributed management architectures including mobile agent technology, have been ...
متن کاملDomain-partitioned element management systems employing mobile agents for distributed network management
Network management systems based on mobile agents are efficiently a better alternative than typical client/server based architectures. Centralized management models like SNMP or CMIP based management models suffer from scalability and flexibility issues which are addressed to great extent by flat bed or static mid-level manager models based on mobile agents, yet the use of mobile agents to dist...
