What is a Categorical Model of Intuitionistic Linear Logic?

چکیده
This paper re-addresses the old problem of providing a categorical model for Intuitionistic Linear Logic (ILL). In particular we compare the now standard model proposed by Seely to the lesser known one proposed by Benton, Bierman, Hyland and de Paiva. Surprisingly we nd that Seely's model is unsound in that it does not preserve equality of proofs. We shall propose how to adapt Seely's deenition so as to correct this problem and consider how this compares with the model due to Benton et al. For the rst part we shall consider only the multiplicative, exponential fragment of Intuitionistic Linear Logic (MELL). Rather than give a detailed description of the logic and associated term calculus we assume that the reader is familiar with other work 15, 5]. The sequent calculus formulation is originally due to Girard 9] and is given below.

Categorical Models of Explicit Substitutions
This paper concerns itself with the categorical semantics of -calculi extended with explicit substitutions. For the simply-typed -calculus, indexed categories seem to provide the right categorical framework but because these structures are inherently non-linear, alternate models are needed for linear -calculi extended with explicit substitutions. We propose to replace indexed categories by pres...
متن کاملCategorical Models for Intuitionistic and Linear Type Theory
This paper describes the categorical semantics of a system of mixed intuitionistic and linear type theory (ILT). ILT was proposed by G. Plotkin and also independently by P. Wadler. The logic associated with ILT is obtained as a combination of intuitionistic logic with intuitionistic linear logic, and can be embedded in Barber and Plotkin's Dual Intuitionistic Linear Logic (DILL). However, unlik...

Hyland, M. and V. de Paiva, Full intuitionistic linear logic (extended abstract), Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 64 (1993) 273-291. In this paper we give a brief treatment of a theory of proofs for a system of Full Intuitionistic Linear Logic. This system is distinct from Classical Linear Logic, but unlike the standard Intuitionistic Linear Logic of Girard and Lafont includes the multiplicati...
متن کاملCategorical Proof Theory of Co-Intuitionistic Linear Logic
To provide a categorical semantics for co-intuitionistic logic, one has to face the fact, noted by Tristan Crolard, that the definition of co-exponents as adjuncts of co-products does not work in the category Set, where co-products are disjoint unions. Following the familiar construction of models of intuitionistic linear logic with exponent !, we build models of co-intuitionistic logic in symm...
متن کاملCategory Theory for Linear Logicians
This paper presents an introduction to category theory with an emphasis on those aspects relevant to the analysis of the model theory of linear logic. With this in mind, we focus on the basic definitions of category theory and categorical logic. An analysis of cartesian and cartesian closed categories and their relation to intuitionistic logic is followed by a consideration of symmetric monoida...
