چکیده
In this study, the physiological effects that the increasing carbondioxide concentrations on rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss is evaluated by using serum biochemical variables and carbonic anhydrase activities. The fish were exposed for 14 days to 14 mg/L concentrations of CO2. The serum GLU value showed a significant increase in the group exposed to CO2 compared to the control group at days 14. Serum TRI, COL and blood CA values showed a significant decrease in the group exposed to CO2 at day 7 compared to the control group. The TRI value a statistically significant increase in the group exposed to CO2 at day 14 compared to the control group. In conclusion, this study results indicate that the some serum biochemical variables and blood carbonic anhydrase activity of rainbow trout significantly affected by high level of CO2.

The role of branchial carbonic anhydrase in acid-base regulation in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
The objective of the present study was to examine the branchial distribution of the recently identified rainbow trout cytoplasmic carbonic anhydrase isoform (tCAc) and to investigate its role in the regulation of acid-base disturbances in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). In situ hybridization using an oligonucleotide probe specific to tCAc revealed tCAc mRNA expression in both pavement cell...

Acid-base equilibria/disequilibria were evaluated in vivo in post-branchial arterial blood and pre-branchial venous blood of freshwater rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). This was accomplished using arterial and venous extracorporeal circuits in conjunction with a stopped-flow apparatus. After the abrupt stoppage of circulating post-branchial blood within the stopped-flow apparatus, pH increa...
متن کاملAn Evaluation of Factors Limiting Carbon Dioxide Excretion by Trout Red Blood Cells in Vitro
An evaluation of several potential factors limiting carbon dioxide excretion by rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) red blood cells was performed in vitro using a recently developed radioisotopic assay. Red blood cell (RBC) CO2 excretion was reduced by pretreatment (30min) of blood with the carbonic anhydrase inhibitor acetazolamide (final nominal concentration 1024 mol l21) or the Cl/HCO3 exch...
متن کاملMechanisms behind Pb-induced disruption of Na+ and Cl- balance in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
The mechanism of Pb-induced disruption of Na(+) and Cl(-) balance was investigated in the freshwater rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Na(+) and Cl(-) influx rates were reduced immediately in the presence of 2.40 +/- 0.24 and 1.25 +/- 0.14 muM Pb, with a small increase in efflux rates occurring after 24-h exposure. Waterborne Pb caused a significant decrease in the maximal rate of Na(+) infl...

1. Patterns of carbon dioxide excretion were investigated in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri). 2. The loss of erythrocytic carbonic anhydrase caused by severe anaemia does not affect acid/base regulation or the ability of fish to excrete CO2. 3. Bicarbonate excretion across the saline-perfused gills of trout is significant even though residence time for the saline in the gills is only 1--3 s. CO...
