چکیده

A pseudospectral method for the analysis of diffractive optical elements is presented. This method is a fullvectorial direct solution of the time-domain Maxwell equations based on a spectral approximation of the spatial derivatives employed within a multidomain framework. The method exhibits little numerical dispersion, and only a few points per wavelength are needed to accurately resolve the propagation of the optical field over long distances. A comparison with the analytic solution for a thin-film waveguide is performed, and examples of analyses of grating couplers are given to demonstrate the feasibility of the method. © 1999 Optical Society of America [S0740-3232(99)00705-X] OCIS codes: 050.1960, 000.4430.

Three-dimensional analysis of subwavelength diffractive optical elements with the finite-difference time-domain method.

We present a three-dimensional (3D) analysis of subwavelength diffractive optical elements (DOE's), using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. To this end we develop and apply efficient 3D FDTD methods that exploit DOE properties, such as symmetry. An axisymmetric method is validated experimentally and is used to validate the more general 3D method. Analyses of subwavelength grating...

Analysis of blazed diffractive optical elements formed with artificial dielectrics.

A new hybrid method for the analysis of diffractive optical elements, which combines fully vectorial and scalar theories, is presented. It is suitable for use with elements of arbitrary large zone, even when the local feature size is of the order of the wavelength. To assess its applicability, we have performed cross-checking tests. The model is shown to accurately predict many optical properti...

Towards Soft X-Ray Phase-Sensitive Imaging with Diffractive Optical Elements

In this contribution we present the first diffractive optical elements for soft x-ray differential interference contrast microscopy. Due to an improved calculation method the nanofabrication accuracy of these optics is the same as for comparable normal zone plate optics with the same outermost zone width. Different diffractive optical elements were fabricated with outermost zone width of 100 nm...

Generalized design of diffractive optical elements using neural networks

Diffractive optical elements (DOE) utilize diffraction to manipulate light in optical systems. These elements have a wide range of applications including optical interconnects, coherent beam addition, laser beam shaping and refractive optics aberration correction. Due to the wide range of applications, optimal design of DOE has become an important research problem. In the design of the DOEs, ex...

Optimal full speckle suppression in laser projectors using one 2D Barker code-type optical diffractive elements

The effective method of a speckle suppression using one moving 2D diffractive optical elements based on the periodic Barker code sequence is developed. It was proved that method has the same optical parameters as method based on two 1D Barker code DOE stretched and moving in orthogonal directions. It is shown that DOE movement in special direction allows to use full numerical aperture of object...
