13C HR MAS MRS reveals differences in the glucose metabolism between two breast cancer xenograft models with different gene expression pattern

چکیده
Introduction Two breast cancer xenograft models have been established from human breast cancer patients and ortothopically xenografted in female SCID mice (1). The models represent a basal-like (poor prognosis) and a luminal-like (better prognosis) genetic profile. Using HR MAS H MR spectroscopy, it has been shown that these two models have distinct metabolic profiles (2). It is well known that tumor cells metabolize glucose at a higher rate than normal cells (3). This is mainly used to form lactate and alanine and is observed even when high concentrations of oxygen are present. Labelled [C]-glucose can be used to measure glucose consumption and transformation with MR spectroscopy. The purpose of this work was to investigate the rate of glucose metabolism in the two breast cancer xenograft models.

متن کاملSecreted Chemicals From Probiotic Bacteria Potentiate Th1 Pattern of Immune Cells and Apoptosis Induction in Breast Cancer and Gastric Adenocarcinoma Cell Lines
Cancer is one of the main causes of mortality. Therapeutic importance in some diseases, especially cancers has led to considering the anti-cancer effects of probiotics more than ever. Probiotics have stimulatory effects on the immunity and suppressor effects on cancer activity. Various studies report that probiotic bacteria have cytotoxicity effects on different types of solid tumors. In this r...
متن کاملMaspin Gene Expression in Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of Breast
Background: The breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women, on the other hand absence of myoepithelial cells play a pivotal role in pathogenesis of this cancer. Thus we aimed to investigate the possible abilities of the molecular assay technique to find a relationship between mammary serine protease inhibitor (Maspin) gene expression possibly secreted by my...
متن کاملIdentification of Metastasis-Associated Metabolic Profiles of Tumors by 1H-HR-MAS-MRS123
Tumors develop an abnormal microenvironment during growth, and similar to the metastatic phenotype, the metabolic phenotype of cancer cells is tightly linked to characteristics of the tumor microenvironment (TME). In this study, we explored relationships between metabolic profile, metastatic propensity, and hypoxia in experimental tumors in an attempt to identify metastasis-associated metabolic...
متن کاملA Mimic of the Tumor Microenvironment on GPR30 Gene Expression in Breast Cancer
Introduction: The G-protein coupled receptor 30 (GPR30) gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) family; involved in breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. Many GPCR receptors that are implicated in several types of human cancers are correlated with increased cell proliferation and tumor progression; especially GPR30 gene. Methods: The breast cancer MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cel...
