The Strange-Quark Mass From QCD Sum Rules: An Update
نویسنده
چکیده
Three different ways of determining the strange quark mass using QCD sum rules are reviewed. First, from a QCD sum rule determination of the up and down quark masses, together with the current algebra ratio ms/(mu+ md). Second and third, from QCD sum rules involving the strangeness changing vector and axial-vector current divergences, respectively. Present results are encompassed in the value: ms (1 GeV) = 150±70 MeV. It is argued that until direct, and precision measurements of the relevant spectral functions become available, the above error is not likely to be reduced.

The strange quark mass from scalar sum rules updated
A precise determination of the strange quark mass, being one of the fundamental parameters in the Standard Model (SM), is of paramount interest in several areas of present day particle phenomenology. Until today two main methods have been employed to achieve this task. QCD sum rules [2] have been applied to various channels containing strange quantum numbers, in particular the scalar channel th...
متن کاملQCD Sum-Rule Bounds on the Light Quark Masses
QCD sum-rules are related to an integral of a hadronic spectral function, and hence must satisfy integral inequalities which follow from positivity of the spectral function. Development of these Hölder inequalities and their application to the Laplace sum-rule for pions lead to a lower bound on the average of the non-strange 2GeV light-quark masses in the MS scheme. The light quark masses are f...
متن کاملBottom quark mass from QCD sum rules for the Υ system
* The talk presents an update of the bottom quark mass determination from QCD moment sum rules for the Υ system by the authors [1]. Employing the M S scheme, we find m b (m b) = 4.19 ± 0.06 GeV. The differences to our previous analysis will be discussed and we comment on the determination of the pole mass for the bottom quark.
متن کاملTau-Decay Determination of the Strange Quark Mass
The precise numerical value of the strange quark mass is a controversial issue, with important implications for low-energy phenomenology. The Particle Data Group [1] quotes a rather wide range of ms values, reflecting the large uncertainties in the present determinations of this parameter from QCD Sum Rules and Lattice calculations. The high precision data on tau decays [2] collected at LEP and...
متن کاملDetermination of the strange - quark mass from QCD pseudoscalar sum rules ∗
A new determination of the strange-quark mass is discussed, based on the two-point function involving the axialvector current divergences. This Green function is known in perturbative QCD up to order O(αs), and up to dimension-six in the nonperturbative domain. The hadronic spectral function is parametrized in terms of the kaon pole, followed by its two radial excitations, and normalized at thr...
