Service Compositions: From Models to Self-Management
نویسنده
چکیده
The talk and demonstrations will illustrate a rigorous approach to the engineering of services for service-oriented architectures and in particular, web service compositions. We use formal model checking techniques to cover aspects of architecture, orchestration, choreography and deployment configurations for service compositions. A demonstration will illustrate our techniques using an Eclipse based tool, known as WSEngineer. WSEngineer is based upon the Labelled Transition System Analyser (LTSA) and provides mechanisms to assist engineers in developing and analyzing service compositions. The tool has also been adopted as part of academic courses in the teaching aspects of a services science. The talk is based on work in London Software Systems a grouping that includes academics at Imperial College London (the speaker, Jeff Magee, Jeff Kramer and Sebastian Uchitel) and at University College London (Wolfgang Emmerich, Anthony Finkelstein and David Rosenblum). PROFILE: Howard Foster is currently a Research Fellow with the Department of Computing, Imperial College London. His research interests include services, compositions, choreography and model-based verification and validation techniques. He is also actively working in the area of software self-management and behavioural synthesis of software components. He obtained his PhD in 2006 at Imperial College London and has over 10 years industrial experience as an IT consultant for leading Business and IT Professional Service organizations.

Towards Self-management in Service-Oriented Computing with Modes
A self-managed system is both self-assembling and selfhealing. Service-oriented Computing (SoC) architectures, such as a Web Services Architecture (WS-A) illustrate a highly distributed, potentially dynamic, domain for component configurations. We propose the use of component architecture ”modes” to facilitate the self-management of services within a SoC environment. A mode abstracts a set of s...
متن کاملPolicy-Driven Middleware for Self-adaptation of Web Services Compositions
We present our policy-based middleware, called Manageable and Adaptive Service Compositions (MASC), for dynamic self-adaptation of Web services compositions to various changes. MASC integrates and extends our earlier middleware called the Web Services Message Bus (wsBus). In particular, we discuss MASC support for customization of Web services compositions to address business exceptions and wsB...
متن کاملProviding an Enterprise Architecture Framework Model for Laboratory Information Management Systems by Service Oriented Approach
Background and Aim: Laboratories are one of the most important scientific and research centers. Laboratory information management systems provide a platform for recording the information and collaborating between researchers. The main purpose of this study was suggesting an organizational architecture model of laboratory information management systems. Materials and Methods: This study was a ...
متن کاملGoal-oriented Requirements Engineering for Self-Adaptive Service Compositions
Self-Adaptation is a fundamental feature for service compositions in order to react to problems that come from their loose coupling. Due to the lack of modeling possibilities for adaptation in existing goalbased approaches, a new methodology is introduced here for specifying adaptation in existing goal models. Further, the approach offers continuous integration of adaptation throughout the whol...

This research compared ratings of task performance and contextual performance from three different sources: self, peer, and supervisor. Participants were service industry employees in the service industries in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A Sample of 146 employees and 40 supervisors from the service industries provided ratings of task performance and contextual performance. The results indicated th...
