Microwave Residual Surface Resistance of Superconductors”
نویسنده
چکیده
Two distinct models account for the microwave residual surface resistance of superconducting cavities with equally good agreement with the measured temperature and frequency dependence. In presenting his phonon generation model, Passow claimed that Rabinowitz’s fluxoid power loss model of residual resistance does not fit the experimental data, whereas his does. In fact, the two models have essentially the same temperature and frequency dependence. {Submitted to Phys. Rev. ) *Work supported by the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission. An analysis presented by Passowl showed that phonons generated in a superconductor by incident electromagnetic radiation result in a residual power loss with an equivalent surface resistance which agrees well with experimental measurements of temperature and frequency dependence. His expression for surface resistance is

Determination of the condensate from optical techniques in unconventional superconductors
The optical properties of superconductors, in particular the real parts of the conductivity and the dielectric function, may be used to calculate the strength of the condensate. In systems where all the free carriers collapse into the condensate, this approach works well. However, in gapless systems, and in unconventional systems in which the superconducting energy gap is observed to have zeros...
متن کاملLow Power Superconducting Microwave Applications and Microwave Microscopy
We briefly review some non-accelerator high-frequency applications of superconductors. These include the use of high-Tc superconductors in front-end band-pass filters in cellular telephone base stations, the High Temperature Superconductor Space Experiment, and high-speed digital electronics. We also present an overview of our work on a novel form of near-field scanning microscopy at microwave ...
متن کاملCritical-state effects on microwave losses in type-II superconductors
We discuss the microwave energy losses in superconductors in the critical state. The field-induced variations of the surface resistance are determined, in the framework of the Coffey and Clem model, by taking into account the distribution of the vortex magnetic field inside the sample. It is shown that the effects of the critical state cannot generally be disregarded to account for the experime...
متن کاملEffect of boron doping in the microwave surface resistance of neutron irradiated
We report on the microwave surface resistance of melt-textured Y1.6Ba2.3Cu3.3O7 x samples, doped with different amount of B2O3 and, subsequently, irradiated by thermal neutrons at the fluence of 1.476 10 cm . The microwave surface resistance has been measured as a function of temperature and DCmagnetic field. The experimental results are quantitatively discussed in the framework of the Coffey a...
متن کاملMicrowave Absorption Peaks : Signatures of Spin Dynamics in Cuprates
We show that a common feature of temperature-dependent microwave absorption is the presence of absorption peaks. ac loss peaks can arise when the internal T -dependent magnetic relaxation time crosses the measurement frequency. These features are observed in the insulating (SrxCa14−xCu24O41, La5/3Sr1/3NiO4 and Y Ba2Cu3O6.0), pseudo-gap (T > Tc in underdoped Y Ba2Cu3O7−δ , Hg : 1223 and Hg : 120...
