A Tactical Planning Model for a Job Shop
نویسنده
چکیده
We develop an analytic and a simulation model for a job shop with unreliable work stations and production constraints. In the complex batch manufacturing operation of the factory, smooth production of each work station is required. In the previous work the Tactical Planning Model was proposed for this purpose. In that model, the production of each work station should be proportional to the queueing level of the input work flow. In this paper, the model is extended to the work station with production constraints and with given unreliability of its operation, because in the real world situation, the work stations cannot be operated perfectly without any trouble nor infinite productivity. For the analysis of multiple unreliable work stations, we develop an analytical model and solution. The break down of the work station is modeled as a Bernoulli process. For the analysis with the production constraints with or without the unreliable work station model, we develop a dynamic simulation model. We show some examples of this problem, and show the effect of production constraints and unreliable work stations. Thesis Supervisor: Dr. Stephen C. A Constant-inventory Tactical Planning Model for a Job Shop
Abstract: We develop a constant-inventory tactical planning model for a generic manufacturing system, such as a job shop. The model is based on a discrete-time, continuous flow model developed by the first author. In the model, we assume that we can regulate the release of work to the shop to maintain the constant-inventory constraint. We characterize the conditions for which the shop productio...
متن کاملLinear Model for Supply Chain Operational Planning and Carbon Footprint Optimization
Supply chain network design attempts to define the best supply chain configuration that enables an organization to maximize its long-term economic performance. Typically, the decisions cover three planning levels (Anthony, 1965; Bertrand, 2003; Fleischmann et al., 2002; Manzini et al., 2008): • Long-term planning (three to five years): Decisions of this level are called strategic decisions and ...
متن کاملA Tactical Planning Model for a Production Network with Continuous-Time Control
We develop an extension to the tactical planning model (TPM) for a job shop by Graves (1986). The TPM is a discrete-time model in which all transitions occur at the start of each time period. The time period must be defined appropriately in order for the model to be meaningful. On the one hand, each period must be short enough so that a job is unlikely to travel through more than one station in...
متن کاملA Hierarchical Production Planning and Finite Scheduling Framework for Part Families in Flexible Job-shop (with a case study)
Tendency to optimization in last decades has resulted in creating multi-product manufacturing systems. Production planning in such systems is difficult, because optimal production volume that is calculated must be consistent with limitation of production system. Hence, integration has been proposed to decide about these problems concurrently. Main problem in integration is how we can relate pro...
متن کاملImproving for Drum_Buffer_Rope material flow management with attention to second bottlenecks and free goods in a job shop environment
Drum–Buffer–Rope is a theory of constraints production planning methodology that operates by developing a schedule for the system’s first bottleneck. The first bottleneck is the bottleneck with the highest utilization. In the theory of constraints, any job that is not processed at the first bottleneck is referred to as a free good. Free goods do not use capacity at the first bottleneck, so very...
