چکیده

The process of lock acquisition in a high-f inesse suspended Fabry–Perot cavity used in the LIGO 40-m interferometer is numerically simulated. The simulation, including a model of the cavity optical transient response as the mirrors swing through resonance, demonstrates that acquisition of lock by the controller depends on the relative velocity of the mirrors and establishes a threshold velocity below which acquisition may take place. The model results are used to implement a real-time controller that analyzes the transient response, extracts the mirror velocity, and then guides the mirrors into resonance with relative velocity under the threshold. The result is a factor-of-10 decrease in the experimentally observed acquisition time.  1995 Optical Society of America

Guided lock of a suspended optical cavity enhanced by a higher-order extrapolation.

Lock acquisition of a suspended optical cavity can be a highly stochastic process and is therefore nontrivial. Guided lock is a method to make lock acquisition less stochastic by decelerating the motion of the cavity length based on an extrapolation of the motion from an instantaneous velocity measurement. We propose an improved scheme that is less susceptible to seismic disturbances by incorpo...

Arm-length stabilisation for interferometric gravitational-wave detectors using frequency-doubled auxiliary lasers.

Residual motion of the arm cavity mirrors is expected to prove one of the principal impediments to systematic lock acquisition in advanced gravitational-wave interferometers. We present a technique which overcomes this problem by employing auxiliary lasers at twice the fundamental measurement frequency to pre-stabilise the arm cavities' lengths. Applying this approach, we reduce the apparent le...

Experimental demonstration of a suspended, diffractively coupled Fabry–Perot cavity

Diffraction gratings have been considered as input couplers for Fabry–Perot cavities in future gravitational wave detectors. We experimentally demonstrate the use of a triple-suspended, diffractively coupled cavity and examine conventional Pound–Drever–Hall length sensing and control techniques to maintain the required operating condition. Utilizing the diffractively coupled Fabry–Perot cavity,...

Dynamics of Fabry-Perot Resonators with Suspended Mirrors I. Nonlinear Coupled Oscillators

The dynamics of Fabry-Perot cavity with suspended mirrors is described. The suspended mirrors are nonlinear oscillators interacting with each other through the laser circulating in the cavity. The degrees of freedom decouple in normal coordinates, which are the position of the center of mass and the length of the cavity. We introduce two parameters and study how the dynamics changes with respec...

Design, simulation and Fabrication of Circularly Polarized Fabry-Perot Antenna for Ku Band

This paper deals with the design and simulation of a RHCP Fabry-Perot antenna for 14.5 GHz. Based on transmission line model, partially Reflecting Surface (PRS) was designed so thatgain enhancement and circular polarization simultaneously obtained. PRS consist of a square loop and meander-line at the top and bottom respectively. In order to achieve the resonance condition in orthogonal componen...
