Concurrent 3-D Visualization of Multiple Microscopic Structures

چکیده
The aim of this paper is to describe a technique for generating three dimensional images of specific microanatomical elements within serial sections. Unlike other three-dimensional reconstruction techniques, this one not only enables the concurrent visualization of multiple structures/tissues (eg: blood vessels, lymphatic tissue, epithelia) but can also reveal spatial topography that can only be determined histologically (eg: olfactory epithelium in the nasal cavity) which until recently have only been shown using diagrams or representative histological sections.

JaVis: A UML-Based Visualization and Debugging Environment for Concurrent Java Programs
Debugging concurrent Java programs is a difficult task because of multiple control flows and inherent nondeterminism. It requires techniques not provided by traditional debuggers such as tracing, visualization, and automated error analysis. Therefore, we have developed the JaVis environment for visualizing and debugging concurrent Java programs. The information about a running program is collec...
متن کاملVisualization Techniques for 3D Microscopic Imaging Data
Three-dimensional (3D) microscopic imaging techniques such as confocal microscopy have become a common tool in measuring cellular structures. While computer volume visualization has advanced into a sophisticated level in medical applications, much fewer studies have been made on data acquired by the 3D microscopic imaging techniques. To optimize the visualization of such data, it is important t...
متن کاملAnalogy and Gesture for Mental Visualization of DNA Structure
In this chapter, we report five beginning undergraduate students' understanding of the 3-D structure of DNA, and the use of gesture and analogy to enhance their 3-D visualization of DNA structure. Through clinical interview-cum-teaching sessions we first recapitulated their background knowledge of basic biology and chemistry prerequisites. We then proceeded to a microgenetic study of the studen...
متن کاملFlow Visualization by Conditional Sampling of a Single X-Wire Probe in a Very Long Run Experiment
Flow visualization techniques using tracer markers such as die, smoke, hydrogen bubbles, etc., have been widely used in experimental investigations of large scale structures of a variety of flow fields. They have played an important role in understanding the physics of the coherent structures' formation and evolution in the transitional as well as the turbulent regions of the flow fields. Howev...
متن کاملAutomatic Atomicity Verification for Clients of Concurrent Data Structures
Mainstream programming languages offer libraries of concurrent data structures. Each method call on a concurrent data structure appears to take effect atomically. However, clients of such data structures often require stronger guarantees. For instance, a histogram class that is implemented using a concurrent map may require a method to atomically increment a histogram bar, but its implementatio...
