t-Private Information Retrieval Schemes Using Transitive Codes

چکیده
This paper presents private information retrieval (PIR) schemes for coded storage with colluding servers, which are not restricted to maximum distance separable (MDS) codes. PIR schemes for general linear codes are constructed and the resulting PIR rate is calculated explicitly. It is shown that codes with transitive automorphism groups yield the highest possible rates obtainable with the proposed scheme. This rate coincides with the known asymptotic PIR capacity for MDS-coded storage systems without collusion. While many PIR schemes in the literature require field sizes that grow with the number of servers and files in the system, we focus especially on the case of a binary base field, for which ReedMuller codes serve as an important and explicit class of examples.

Locally Decodable Codes and Private Information Retrieval Schemes
This thesis studies two closely related notions, namely Locally Decodable Codes (LDCs) and Private Information Retrieval Schemes (PIRs). Locally decodable codes are error-correcting codes that allow extremely efficient, “sublinear-time” decoding procedures. More formally, a k-query locally decodable code encodes n-bit messages x in such a way that one can probabilistically recover any bit xi of...
متن کاملImproved Upper Bounds on Information-theoretic Private Information Retrieval
Private Information Retrieval (PIR) schemes allow a user to retrieve the i-th bit of an n-bit database x, replicated in k servers, while keeping the value of i private from each server. A t-private PIR scheme protects the user's privacy from any collusion of up to t servers. The main cost measure for such schemes is their communication complexity. We introduce a new technique for the constructi...
متن کاملLengthening and Extending Binary Private Information Retrieval Codes
It was recently shown by Fazeli et al. that the storage overhead of a traditional t-server private information retrieval (PIR) protocol can be significantly reduced using the concept of a t-server PIR code. In this work, we show that a family of tserver PIR codes (with increasing dimensions and blocklengths) can be constructed from an existing t-server PIR code through lengthening by a single i...
متن کاملA Storage-Efficient and Robust Private Information Retrieval Scheme Allowing Few Servers
Since the concept of locally decodable codes was introduced by Katz and Trevisan in 2000 [11], it is well-known that information theoretically secure private information retrieval schemes can be built using locally decodable codes [15]. In this paper, we construct a Byzantine robust PIR scheme using the multiplicity codes introduced by Kopparty et al. [12]. Our main contributions are on the one...
متن کاملExplicit Constructions and Bounds for Batch Codes with Restricted Size of Reconstruction Sets
Abstract. Linear batch codes and codes for private information retrieval (PIR) with a query size t and a restricted size r of the reconstruction sets are studied. New bounds on the parameters of such codes are derived for small values of t or r by providing corresponding constructions. By building on the ideas of Cadambe and Mazumdar, a new bound in a recursive form is derived for batch codes a...
