M oday, O cber 9, 2017 RESULTS: Twenty-one patients participated in the study. On average, Prineo closure took 58.38 seconds (2.50 s/cm) while subcuticular closure took 444.76 seconds (18.94 s/cm). Prineo closure was approximately 6.8 times faster (p=0.000) than subcuticular closure, saving an average of 6.4 minutes per incision. VSS scores were significantly better in patients with Prineo closure at 2 weeks (p=0.026), although there was no difference in POSAS and VSS scores at all other time points. No differences were found in wound complication or infection rates between the two groups and no adverse reactions were observed in either group. Cost analysis of our results estimated an average cost saving of approximately $127.75 per surgery when Prineo was used instead of subcuticular suture.

The use of report cards and outcome measurements to improve the safety of surgical care: the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program
Postoperative adverse events occur all too commonly and contribute greatly to our large and increasing healthcare costs. Surgeons, as well as hospitals, need to know their own outcomes in order to recognise areas that need improvement before they can work towards reducing complications. In the USA, the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (ACS NSQIP) collec...
متن کاملA comparison of 2 surgical site infection monitoring systems.
IMPORTANCE Surgical site infection (SSI) has emerged as the leading publicly reported surgical outcome and is tied to payment determinations. Many hospitals monitor SSIs using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP), in addition to mandatory participation (for most states) in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare ...

BACKGROUND In October 2012, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began publicly reporting American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) surgical outcomes on its public reporting website, Hospital Compare. Participation in this CMS-NSQIP initiative is voluntary. Our objective was to compare CMS-NSQIP participating hospitals with ACS NSQIP ...
متن کاملImproved Surgical Outcomes for ACS NSQIP Hospitals Over Time: Evaluation of Hospital Cohorts With up to 8 Years of Participation.
BACKGROUND The American College of Surgeons, National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) surgical quality feedback models are recalibrated every 6 months, and each hospital is given risk-adjusted, hierarchical model, odds ratios that permit comparison to an estimated average NSQIP hospital at a particular point in time. This approach is appropriate for "relative" benchmarking, and...
متن کاملMeasuring surgical quality: comparison of postoperative adverse events with the american college of surgeons NSQIP and the Thoracic Morbidity and Mortality classification system.
BACKGROUND Monitoring surgical outcomes is critical to quality improvement; however, different data-collection methodologies can provide divergent evaluations of surgical outcomes. We compared postoperative adverse event reporting on the same patients using 2 classification systems: the retrospectively recorded American College of Surgeons (ACS) NSQIP and the prospectively collected Thoracic Mo...
