چکیده

Introduction. Only recently, an analytic solution for partial spoiling of the steady state of gradient echo sequences (pSSFP) was presented [1]. Radiofrequency phase cycling (RF spoiling) refers to a linear increment in the differential RF phase of consecutive excitation pulses φk − φk−1 = kφ, characterized by the phase shift increment φ. The steady state depends sensitively on φ, yielding SSFP-FID (FISP, FFE, ...) for φ = 0° and SPGR (FLASH, T1-FFE, ...) for φ=50° or 117°. It was been shown that for small TR and φ, the width of the transition from SSFP-FID to SPGR is inversely proportional to T2. Here, we make use of the approximate solution for partially spoiled SSFP sequences for small φ, to allow for fast 3D quantitative T2 mapping.

Simultaneous T1 and T2 mappings using partially Spoiled Steady State Free Precession (pSSFP)

Introduction: A fast 3D T2 mapping technique based on two partially Spoiled Steady State Free Precession (pSSFP) gradient echo acquisitions has recently been proposed by Bieri et al. [1]. Analytical expression for the estimated T2 as a function of the experimental parameters (TR, the RF flip angle α and the RF spoiling increments φ) assumed that the condition η << T1/T2 was respected, where η =...

Background Access to appropriate images of fetal brain can greatly assist to diagnose of probable abnormalities. The aim of this study was to compare the suitability of T2-True Fast Imaging with Steady State Free Precession (T2-TRUFI), and T2-Half-Fourier Acquisition Single-Shot Turbo Spin-Echo (T2- HASTE( magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to extract the fetal brain using the level set algorithm...

Free-breathing myocardial T1 mapping using magnetization-prepared slice interleaved spoiled gradient echo imaging

Background Quantitative myocardial T1 mapping and extracellular volume fraction (ECV) show promise for non-invasive assessment of cardiomyopathies. Most available T1 mapping sequences use a single slice breath-hold acquisition with balanced steady state free precession (b-SSFP) readout [1]. However, b-SSFP readout is sensitive to B0 field inhomogeneity and is potentially T2 dependent [1]. In th...

Pulmonary relaxometry with inversion recovery ultra-fast steady-state free precession at 1.5T.

PURPOSE To present a technique for simultaneous mapping of T1 , T2 , and relative spin density (M0 ) in human lung using inversion recovery ultra-fast steady-state free precession (IR-ufSSFP) imaging. METHODS Pulmonary relaxometry with IR-ufSSFP is based on an interleaved time series acquisition of 2D images acquired at 1.5T. The technique was tested in a phantom and in four healthy volunteer...

A “Variable Flip Angle” Radial Steady-State Free Precession Technique with Slice Profile Correction

Introduction: Steady-state free precession (SSFP) techniques have drawn significant attention due to their speed, good tissue contrast and spatial resolution. Recently, it was demonstrated that SSFP methods can be used to estimate MR-dependent tissue parameters [1,2,3]. In [1], it was shown that a “variable flip angle” radial steady-state free precession (RAD-SSFP) method can be used for the di...
