چکیده

Description of Materials Soil profiles developed from Dwyka tillite consist of a fine sandy loam overlying a gravel and rubble layer and succeeded by a zone of clay illuviation. Below this, the disintergrating tillite may proceed to depths of two hundred feet under favourable circumstances. This material in its most weathered aspect consists of a "soapy" orangy yellow fine silty clay of the following textural composition: Coarse sand 10 per cent, fine sand 30 per cent, silt 20 per cent and clay 40 per cent. Where conditions for weathering are not favourable, that is, the absence of preAnalytical Results

Petrology and Mineral Chemistry of the Antarctic Ferrar Dolerite: Implications for Martian Meteorites

Introduction: The study of terrestrial analogs to Martian igneous rock compositions and surface features is important in order to gain insight into past and present dynamic processes experienced on Mars. Previous Martian analog studies have been performed on materials from various terrestrial environments [e.g., 1-3]. For this study, we investigated petrological and mineralogical properties of ...

Geochemistry and petrology of Witwatersrand and Dwyka diamictites from South Africa: Search for an extraterrestrial component

Diamictites are poorly sorted sediments characteristically carrying coarse-grained clasts in a fine-grained matrix. They have generally been considered of glaciogenic or glaciomarine origin. Recently, however, it has been suggested that some massive tillite/diamictite layers could represent impact breccias. An earlier petrographic study of rock and mineral clasts from Dwyka Group diamictites re...

Protective Effect of Curcumin on Hippocampal and Behavior Changes in Rats Exposed to Fluoride During Pre- and Post-natal Period

Introduction: Curcumin, a yellow-pigment, found in the popular Indian spice turmeric (Curcuma longa), poses pharmaceutical applications due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and chemoprotective properties. Excessive fluoride causes fluorosis leading to neurodegeneration and associated behavioral deficits, particularly in children. This study aimed at investigating the neuroprotective abili...
