چکیده
An experiment on the efficacy of pheromone on capturing angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) was conducted in the laboratory of the Department of Entomology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh, using rice variety BR11. Pheromone (X-lure) trap was used as a treatment and data were recorded at different days and distances. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications. In case of total captured moth, the highest percentage (%) was recorded at 1 day (28.60%), whereas the lowest percentage (%) was recorded at 15 day (7.60%). It was also observed that with the increase of distance of pheromone trap, the % of captured moth was decreased. The pheromone X-lure was found useful only for monitoring S. cerealella (Olivier).

Avidin expressed in transgenic rice confers resistance to the stored-product insect pests Tribolium confusum and Sitotroga cerealella.
Rice (Oryza sativa var. Nipponbare) was transformed with an artificial avidin gene. The features of this construct are as follows: (1) a signal peptide sequence derived from barley alpha amylase was added at the N-terminal region, (2) codon usage of the gene was optimized for rice, and (3) the gene was driven by rice glutelin GluB-1, an endosperm-specific promoter. Avidin was produced in the gr...

The Angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella, is a serious pest of stored grains worldwide. Presently, the best effective control against the moth is to disrupt the sexual communication between sexes. Sexual communication in moths includes two processes in which females produce and release pheromones from the sex pheromone gland and males detect and respond to them with a relatively sophistic...

Ionizing irradiation is used as a phytosanitary treatment against quarantine pests. A generic treatment of 400 Gy has been approved for commodities entering the United States against all insects except pupae and adults of Lepidoptera because some literature citations indicate that a few insects, namely, the Angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), and the...

Life history of immature Angoumois grain moths, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier), was studied on dent corn (Pioneer 3320) at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 C and at 43, 53Ð61, 75Ð76, and 82Ð87% RH under laboratory conditions. At 10 and 40 C, none of the stages survived at any relative humidity. Temperaturewas themain factor affecting egg incubationperiod, larval-pupal development time, and egg an...

Two crystalline protoxins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), Cry1Fa1 and Cry34Ab1/Cry35Ab1 (Cry1F, Cry34/ 35Ab1), were evaluated for efficacy against lepidopteran and coleopteran storage pests. Cry1F was tested against the lepidopterans Sitotroga cerealella (Angoumois grain moth) and colonies of Plodia interpunctella (Indian mealmoth) that are susceptible or resistant to Bt Cry1Ab and Cry1Ac tox...
