Transmission of Musculotendon Forces to the Index Finger
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article reviews work completed by the authors to examine how musculotendon forces from index finger muscles impact finger kinetics and kinematics. Results were obtained from in vivo studies, computer simulations, and cadaver investigations. Passive joint impedance and finger posture had particularly strong effects on force transmission in the fingers.

Lung Carcinoma Metastasis to the Distal Part of Index Finger: A Case Report
Although acrometastases are rare but clinically they are considered important. Their etiology is quite different from the metastases to other sites; bronchogenic carcinoma is by far the most frequent case. The prognosis is always similar to metastatic bronchial cancer with an average survival of three mo...
متن کاملFlexing computational muscle: modeling and simulation of musculotendon dynamics.
Muscle-driven simulations of human and animal motion are widely used to complement physical experiments for studying movement dynamics. Musculotendon models are an essential component of muscle-driven simulations, yet neither the computational speed nor the biological accuracy of the simulated forces has been adequately evaluated. Here we compare the speed and accuracy of three musculotendon mo...
متن کاملFinger force vectors in multi-finger prehension.
In a majority of studies on grasp, only normal forces were measured and only when a zero torque was exerted on a hand-held object. This study concerns finger force vectors during the torque production tasks. Subjects (n=8) stabilized a handle with an attachment that allowed for change of external torque from -1.5 to 1.5 Nm. Forces and moments exerted by the digit tips on the object were recorde...
متن کاملUnderstanding the Human Hand for Advancing Robotic Manipulation
The human hand is an amazing and complex instrument, capable of grasping objects of arbitrary shape (as well as having numerous other functions). Attempts to replicate some of these functions with both amputees and robots make clear how difficult it is to replace the hand by an electromechanical (or pneumatic) device. In this talk we will review the fascinating history of these devices. Prosthe...
متن کاملThe effect of bilateral isometric forces in different directions on motor cortical function in humans.
The activity in the primary motor cortex (M1) reflects the direction of movements, but little is known about physiological changes in the M1 during generation of bilateral isometric forces in different directions. Here, we used transcranial magnetic stimulation to examine motor evoked potentials (MEPs), short-interval intracortical inhibition (SICI), and interhemispheric inhibition (IHI) in the...
