A Study on Anatomical variations of Coeliac Trunk and Its Branches

چکیده

Thorough knowledge of normal and variant anatomy of major unpaired arteries originating from the abdominal aorta is necessary to accomplish successful abdominal operations and to avoid complications. The coeliac artery, commonly known as the coeliac trunk (CT), is a major visceral branch of the abdominal aorta originating at its anterior contour just below the aortic hiatus of diaphragm at the level of T12L1 vertebral bodies. During routine dissection on adult cadavers in Anatomy department, we found some variations in the branching pattern of the coeliac trunk. Classical branching pattern observed in majority of the cases, trifurcation of coeliac trunk as common hepatic artery, splenic artery and left gastric artery seen in 45.7% cases. Bifurcation of Coeliac Trunk was seen in two specimens (6.6%). One female cadaver showed collateral branch from coeliac trunk. Knowledge of variations found in the current study will be very helpful in surgical, oncologic or interventional procedures and can be keep in mind to avoid complications.

INTRODUCTION Knowledge of anatomical variations of the great vessels of the abdomen, including the coeliac trunk, is important for clinicians planning surgical intervention and radiological imaging. The present study aimed to record the prevalence of variations in the vascular pattern of branches of the coeliac trunk in cadavers. METHODS A total of 50 properly embalmed and formalin-fixed cada...

Anatomical variations of the coeliac trunk in the homogeneous Polish population.

BACKGROUND The abdominal vessels show a number of abnormalities and pathologies knowledge of which is important during open as well as laparoscopic surgeries. One of the most common vessels which pattern has many variations is the coeliac trunk. The present study was undertaken on homogeneous population to assess morphology of the coeliac trunk and to evaluate the possible variability of its br...

Case Report: Absence of Thyrocervical Trunk

The thyrocervical trunk most commonly arises from the upper portion of the first segment of the subclavian artery, close to the medial edge of the scalenus anterior muscle and after short distance is divided to the inferior thyroid, transverse cervical, and suprascapular artery. This study reports important variations in branches of the thyrocervical trunk in a singular fema...

A case report of coeliacomesenteric trunk

The coeliac trunk and superior mesenteric artery are the anterior visceral branches of the abdominal aorta. The anatomical variations of these arteries are due to development of the anterior splanchnic arteries. A case of coeliacomesenteric trunk was reported in this study which was observed in a 72-year-old male cadaver during the routine dissection. This trunk with a diameter of 13.98 mm is o...
