چکیده

Field lysimeters (75 x 15 cm) packed with 18 kg (dry weight) Plainfield sand were used to study the mobility and persistence of commercial formulations of the herbicides atrazine, metolachlor and terbuthylazine under two precipitation regimes: rainfall, and rainfall with supplementary watering. Leachate from the 70-cm soil cores was monitored daily for each herbicide. Pairs of soil cores for each herbicide and each moisture regime were sectioned (7 x 10 cm) after 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 21 weeks to obtain both mobility and persistence data. After 21 weeks under rainfall, the maximum movements of atrazine, terbuthylazine and metolachlor were, respectively, 30, 20 and 10 cm, and under supplementary watering, were, respectively, 70, 50 and 40 cm. Only a single trace of atrazine appeared in the effluent of rainfall cores. Both atrazine and terbuthylazine appeared in the effluent following a 50-mm water application on day 2. Atrazine also appeared in the effluent on several occasions after week 12 under supplementary watering.

Herbicide micropollutants in surface, ground and drinking waters within and near the area of Zagreb, Croatia.

The frequency and mass concentrations of 13 herbicide micropollutants (triazines, phenylureas, chloroacetanilides and trifluralin) were investigated during 2014 in surface, ground and drinking waters in the area of the city of Zagreb and its suburbs. Herbicide compounds were accumulated from water by solid-phase extraction using either octadecylsilica or styrene-divinylbenzene sorbent cartridge...

Comparative Sensitivity of Five Species of Macrophytes and Six Species of Algae to Atrazine, Metribuzin, Alachlor, and Metolachlor

This study determined the relative sensitivity of five species of aquatic macrophytes and six species of algae to four commonly used herbicides (atrazine, metribuzin, alachlor, and metolachlor). Toxicity tests consisted of 96-h (duckweed and algae) or 14-d (submerged macrophytes) static exposures. The triazine herbicides (atrazine and metribuzin) were significantly more toxic to aquatic plants ...

Atrazine and metolachlor in surface runoff under typical rainfall conditions in southern Louisiana.

Atrazine and metolachlor are commonly detected in surface water bodies in southern Louisiana. These herbicides are frequently applied in combination to corn, and atrazine to sugarcane, in this region. A study was conducted on the runoff of atrazine and metolachlor from 0.21 ha plots planted to corn on Commerce silt loam, a Mississippi River alluvial soil. The study, carried out over a three-yea...

Pesticide fate and transport throughout unsaturated zones in five agricultural settings, USA.

Pesticide transport through the unsaturated zone is a function of chemical and soil characteristics, application, and water recharge rate. The fate and transport of 82 pesticides and degradates were investigated at five different agricultural sites. Atrazine and metolachlor, as well as several of the degradates of atrazine, metolachlor, acetochlor, and alachlor, were frequently detected in soil...

Spatial variability of atrazine and metolachlor dissipation on dryland no-tillage crop fields in Colorado.

An area of interest in precision farming is variable-rate application of herbicides to optimize herbicide use efficiency and minimize negative off-site and non-target effects. Site-specific weed management based on field scale management zones derived from soil characteristics known to affect soil-applied herbicide efficacy could alleviate challenges posed by post-emergence precision weed manag...
