Mosaic and regulative development: two faces of one coin

چکیده
are displayed prominently in intraspecific interactions, such as aggressive or mating behavior. These animals thus use patterns of polarized light in the same way that other species use color patterns, providing a unique and therefore unmistakable appearance to visual systems capable of analyzing polarization patterns. Also, since the polarization pattern is independent of the spectrum of illuminating light, the signal looks the same in a great variety of lighting conditions.

Evolution of the mechanisms that establish the embryonic axes.
A long-standing debate in developmental biology concerns the extent to which embryos are largely 'mosaic' (cell fates are allocated by localization of maternal determinants that are inherited differentially) or 'regulative' (cell interactions determine cell fates). Generally, it has been thought that amniotes, especially birds and mammals, are at the extreme regulative end of the spectrum, wher...
متن کاملRegulative development in a spiralian embryo as shown by cell deletion experiments on the Acoel, Childia.
Spiral cleavage and mosaicism are closely associated in the Annelida, Mollusca, and probably the polyclad Turbellaria, but the evolutionary history of these phenomena remains uncertain. The Acoela, the most primitive order of turbellarians, exhibit spiral cleavage but with the formation of duets of micromeres rather than the more typical quartets. The regulative versus mosaic capacities of the ...
متن کاملCan the Gold Coin Futures Prices Forecast the Gold Coin Spot Prices at the Maturity Date?
This paper examines whether the gold coin futures prices in the Iran Mercantile Exchange can forecast accurately the gold coin spot prices at the maturity date. For this, it uses daily data of both futures and spot prices from Azar 1387 to Tir 1397. A cointegration analysis shows that in horizons shorter than 100 days, there is a significant one-to-one relation between these two prices which im...
متن کاملDevelopmental behaviour of fragments of symmetrical and asymmetrical imaginal discs of Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera).
Earlier experiments have demonstrated a very high 'regulative' ability in the genital disc of Drosophila melanogaster. Medially sectioned discs, even from mature larvae, are able to form a fully differentiated normal genital apparatus if the fragments are cultured in vivo in a larval host for a sufficient length of time before metamorphosis. Even a quarter of a disc has this 'regulative' abilit...
متن کاملتعادل بخشی بین حقوق مالکانه و منافع عمومی در اقدامات نوسازانه شهری (از تعارض منافع تا تعادل حقوق در قوانین سلب و تامین حقوق مالکانه)
Urban development plans define the process of planning for urban improvement based on both Islamic regulations and substantial principals of urbanism. The rights of private ownership are basically emphasized in Iranian constitution. Attempts of urban redevelopment plans are inherently in contrast with the private rights of ownership. Rules and regulations governing the urban systems are con...
