چکیده

Remotely sensed images of the Earth’s surface provide information about the spatial distribution of evapotranspiration. Since the spatial resolution of evapotranspiration predictions depends on the sensor type; scaling transfer between images of different scales needs to be investigated. The objectives of this study are first to validate the consistency of SEBAL algorithms for satellite images of different scales and second to investigate the effect of upand down-scaling procedures between evapotranspiration maps derived from LandSat 7 and MODIS images. The results of this study demonstrate: (1) good agreement of SEBAL evapotranspiration estimates between LandSat 7 and MODIS images; (2) upand down-scaled evapotranspiration maps over the Middle Rio Grande Basin are very similar to evapotranspiration maps directly derived from LandSat 7 and MODIS images.

Down-scaling of Sebal Derived Evapotranspiration Maps

10 11 The major problem with high spatial resolution satellite images from Landsat 7 is that 12 imagery is not available very often (i.e. every 16 days or longer) and the coverage area is 13 relatively small (swath width 185km), while images of lower spatial resolution from MODIS are 14 available daily and one image covers a relatively large area (swath width 2,330km). This paper 15 considers t...

Ndvi (modis Sensor) Response to Interannual Variability of Rainfall and Evapotranspiration in a Soybean Producing Region, Southern Brazil

This study aimed at evaluating the response of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index NDVI (MODIS sensor, TERRA satellite) of soybean to interannual variability of rainfall and evapotranspiration in Campos Gerais, a region of the state of Parana in southern Brazil. Landsat TM 5 and 7 images were selected for analyzing the spatial soybean field distribution for the region from 2000/01 to 200...

Downscaling of MODIS One Kilometer Evapotranspiration Using Landsat-8 Data and Machine Learning Approaches

This study presented a MODIS 8-day 1 km evapotranspiration (ET) downscaling method based on Landsat 8 data (30 m) and machine learning approaches. Eleven indicators including albedo, land surface temperature (LST), and vegetation indices (VIs) derived from Landsat 8 data were first upscaled to 1 km resolution. Machine learning algorithms including Support Vector Regression (SVR), Cubist, and Ra...

Estimation of Actual Evapotranspiration along the Middle Rio Grande of New Mexico Using MODIS and Landsat Imagery with the METRIC Model

Estimation of actual evapotranspiration (ET) for the Middle Rio Grande valley in central New Mexico via the METRIC surface energy balance model using MODIS and Landsat imagery is described. MODIS images are a useful resource for estimating ET at large scales when high spatial resolution is not required. One advantage of MODIS satellites is that images having a view angle < ~15° are potentially ...
