چکیده

We present a summary of spectroscopic identifications for a complete sample of bright soft high galactic latitude X-ray sources drawn from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey which have PSPC count-rates CR > 0.5 cts s−1 and hardness ratios HR1 < 0. Of a total of 397 sources, 270 had catalogued counterparts although most of these were not previously known as X-ray sources; of the remaining 127 sources neither X-ray nor optical properties were previously known. Of the whole sample of very soft X-ray sources 155 were also discovered by the Wide-Field-Camera on board ROSAT. We present spectroscopic identifications of 108 sources and other identifications for further 18 sources; 1 source remains unidentified so far. In practically all cases a unique optical counterpart exists facilitating identification. The largest source classes are AGN, magnetic cataclysmic variables, and hot white dwarfs.

Identification of soft high galactic latitude RASS X-ray sources

We present a summary of spectroscopic identifications of bright soft high galactic latitude X-ray sources from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey with total PSPC count rates 0.11 < CR < 0.5 cts s−1 and hardness ratios HR1 < 0. This study supplements the identification program of a complete sample of sources withCR ≥ 0.5 cts s−1 presented previously. Spectroscopic identifications are presented for 70 of 7...

The Hamburg/RASS Catalogue of optical identifications Northern high-galactic latitude ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue X-ray sources

We present the Hamburg/RASS Catalogue (HRC) of optical identifications of X-ray sources at highgalactic latitude. The HRC includes all X-ray sources from the ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC) with galactic latitude |b| ≥ 30◦ and declination δ ≥ 0◦. In this part of the sky covering∼10 000 deg the RASS-BSC contains 5341 X-ray sources. For the optical identification we used blue Schmidt pri...

Identification of a complete sample of northern ROSAT All-Sky Survey X-ray sources

We present the statistical evaluation of a count rate and area limited complete sample of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey (RASS) comprising 674 sources. The RASS sources are located in six study areas outside the galactic plane (|bII | >∼ 20) and north of δ = −9◦. The total sample contains 274 (40.7%) stars, 26 (3.9%) galaxies, 284 (42.1%) AGN, 78 (11.6%) clusters of galaxies and 12 (1.8%) unidentifie...

The Hamburg / RASS optical identification project

We use digitized Schmidt direct and prism plates taken for the northern hemisphere Hamburg Quasar Survey (HQS) to obtain optical identifications for all high galactic latitude X-ray sources in the ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC) at |b| ≥ 30 • and δ ≥ 0 •. In this part of the sky the RASS-BSC contains about 5300 X-ray sources. Presently, identifications exist for ∼ 4100 RASS-BSC sources...

Identification of a complete sample of northern ROSAT All-sky Survey X-ray sources

In order to derive statistical properties of a complete X-ray selected sample of AGN we used the classification spectra of the RASS Selected Areas-North survey to study the luminosities, redshifts , X-ray/visual flux ratios, line widths, and various correlations between observed parameters of all Seyfert galaxies and QSOs in this sample. On the basis of these data we discuss implications for th...
