Spherically symmetric false vacuum: no-go theorems and global structure

چکیده

We enumerate all possible types of spacetime causal structures that can appear in static, spherically symmetric configurations of a self-gravitating, real, nonlinear, minimally coupled scalar field φ in general relativity, with an arbitrary potential V (φ) , not necessarily positive-definite. It is shown that a variable scalar field adds nothing to the list of possible structures with a constant φ field, namely, Minkowski (or AdS), Schwarzschild, de Sitter and Schwarzschild — de Sitter. It follows, in particular, that, whatever is V (φ) , this theory does not admit regular black holes with flat or AdS asymptotics. It is concluded that the only possible globally regular, asymptotically flat solutions are solitons with a regular center, without horizons and with at least partly negative potentials V (φ) . Extension of the results to more general field models is discussed.

Scalar Fields in Multidimensional Gravity . No - Hair and Other No - Go Theorems

Global properties of static, spherically symmetric configurations with scalar fields of sigma-model type with arbitrary potentials are studied in D dimensions, including models where the space-time contains multiple internal factor spaces. The latter are assumed to be Einstein spaces, not necessarily Ricci-flat, and the potential V includes contributions from their curvatures. The following res...

Intertwiners of Pseudo-Hermitian 2 × 2-Block-Operator Matrices and a No-Go Theorem for Isospectral MHD Dynamo Operators

Pseudo-Hermiticity as a generalization of usual Hermiticity is a rather common feature of (differential) operators emerging in various physical setups. Examples are Hamiltonians of PTand CPT-symmetric quantum mechanical systems [1] as well as the operator of the spherically symmetric α-dynamo [2] in magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). In order to solve the inverse spectral problem for these operators, ...

N ov 2 00 6 Global existence for the spherically symmetric

We prove a new global existence result for the asymptotically flat, spherically symmetric Einstein-Vlasov system which describes in the framework of general relativity an ensemble of particles which interact by gravity. The data are such that initially all the particles are moving radially outward and that this property can be bootstrapped. The resulting non-vacuum spacetime is future geodesica...

Gravitational solitons and C vacuum metrics in five-dimensional Lovelock gravity

Junction conditions for vacuum solutions in five-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity are studied. We focus on those cases where two spherically symmetric regions of space-time are joined in such a way that the induced stress tensor on the junction surface vanishes. So a spherical vacuum shell, containing no matter, arises as a boundary between two regions of the space-time. A general anal...

Lemaître Class Dark Energy Model for Relaxing Cosmological Constant

Cosmological constant corresponds to the maximally symmetric cosmological term with the equation of state p = −ρ. Introducing a cosmological term with the reduced symmetry, pr = −ρ in the spherically symmetric case, makes cosmological constant intrinsically variable component of a variable cosmological term which describes time-dependent and spatially inhomogeneous vacuum dark energy. Relaxatio...
