چکیده

Abstract Recently, the frequency-domain equalization (FDE) has been attracting much attention since it is an effective equalization technique for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) signal transmission in a frequency-selective fading channel. In practical systems, the square-root Nyquist transmit and receive filters are used for the bandwidth limitation of the transmitted signals. The presence of timing error produces the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and thus degrades the transmission performance. In this paper, we present a theoretical analysis on the bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA using FDE in the presence of timing error and the analysis is confirmed by computer simulation. In the presence of timing error, the received signal spreads in the time domain and the FFT window should be shifted to contain most of desired signal components. The optimum rolloff factor that minimizes the average BER is around 0.2. Keyword DS-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization, timing error, Nyquist filter

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and achieve a much improved bit error rate (BER) performance compared with the conventional rake combining. However, DS-CDMA with MMSE-FDE requires the insertion of guard interval ...

Orthogonal Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA with Frequency-Domain Equalization

Orthogonal multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access (orthogonal MC DS-CDMA) is a combination of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and time-domain spreading, while multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is a combination of OFDM and frequency-domain spreading. In MC-CDMA, a good bit error rate (BER) performance can be achieved by using frequencydo...

Joint Frequency-domain Equalization and Antenna Diversity Combining for Orthogonal Multicode DS-CDMA Signal Transmissions in A Frequency-selective Fading Channel

Orthogonal multicode direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) has a flexibility in offering various data rate services. However, in a frequency-selective fading channel, the bit error rate (BER) performance is severely degraded since othogonality among spreading codes is partially lost. In this paper, we apply frequency-domain equalization and antenna diversity combining, used in...
