Translating General Game Descriptions into an Action Language

چکیده

The game description language (GDL), which is the basis for the grand AI challenge of general game playing, can be viewed as yet another action language. However, due to its unique way of addressing the frame problem, GDL turned out to be surprisingly difficult to relate to any of the classical action formalisms. In this paper, we present the first complete embedding of GDL into an existing member, known as, C+, of the family of action languages. Our provably correct translation paves the way for applying known results from reasoning about actions, including competitive implementations such as the Causal Calculator, to the new and ambitious challenge of general game playing.

Translating Single-Player GDL into PDDL

In the single-agent case general game playing and action planning are two related topics, so that one might hope to use the established planners to improve the handling of general single-player games. However, both come with their own description language, GDL and PDDL, respectively. In this paper we propose a way to translate single-player games described in GDL to PDDL planning tasks and prov...

Updating action domain descriptions☆

Incorporating new information into a knowledge base is an important problem which has been widely investigated. In this paper, we study this problem in a formal framework for reasoning about actions and change. In this framework, action domains are described in an action language whose semantics is based on the notion of causality. Unlike the formalisms considered in the related work, this lang...

Solving the Inferential Frame Problem in the General Game Description Language

The Game Description Language GDL is the standard input language for general game-playing systems. While players can gain a lot of traction by an efficient inference algorithm for GDL, state-of-the-art reasoners suffer from a variant of a classical KR problem, the inferential frame problem. We present a method by which general game players can transform any given game description into a represe...

CoreALMlib: An ALM library translated from the Component Library

This paper presents COREALMLIB, an ALM library of commonsense knowledge about dynamic domains. The library was obtained by translating part of the COMPONENT LIBRARY (CLIB) into the modular action language ALM. CLIB consists of general reusable and composable commonsense concepts, selected based on a thorough study of ontological and lexical resources. Our translation targets CLIB states (i.e., ...

An Action Description Language for Iterated Belief Change

We are interested in the belief change that occurs due to a sequence of ontic actions and epistemic actions. In order to represent such problems, we extend an existing epistemic action language to allow erroneous initial beliefs. We define a nonMarkovian semantics for our action language that explicitly respects the interaction between ontic actions and epistemic actions. Further, we illustrate...
