Maedi - visna PALL
نویسنده
چکیده
Rise in temperature is not observed in visna or maedi. The animals seem to be remarkably alert and the appetite remains unaffected throughout. The period between inoculation of infective visna material and the development of clinical signs varies from animal to animal even with a standard dose. Usually this period is very long and several months to several years may elapse before clinical signs can be detected.

Duplicated sequence motif in the long terminal repeat of maedi-visna virus extends cell tropism and is associated with neurovirulence.
Maedi-visna virus (MVV) is a lentivirus of sheep causing chronic inflammatory disease of the lungs (maedi) and the nervous system (visna). We have previously shown that a duplicated sequence in the long terminal repeat (LTR) of MVV is a determinant of cell tropism. Here, we demonstrate that deletion of a CAAAT sequence from either one of the repeats resulted in poor virus growth in sheep choroi...

Visna-maedi virus is a lentivirus that causes a chronic disease in sheep affecting, among other organs, the lungs. Interstitial pneumonitis is similar to that in man associated with the infection by the human immunodeficiency virus type-1. We have compared the pathological features of lungs of sheep naturally infected with visna-maedi virus with the results obtained from bronchoalveolar lavage ...

BACKGROUND The Maedi-Visna (MV) lentivirus causes two slowly progressive eventually fatal diseases of sheep, Maedi, a progressive interstitial pneumonia, and Visna, a progressive demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Other lentiviruses also cause fatal slow infections in their natural hosts, e.g. the HIV virus in humans. Results of experimental vaccination against any lentivirus ...
