Measurement of Wet Antenna Losses on 26 GHz Terrestrial Microwave Link in Malaysia
نویسندگان
چکیده
This letter discusses the effect of antenna losses due to rain on a 26GHz microwave link and the technique of extracting the losses from the measured rain attenuation. A 2-feet parabolic dish antenna with horizontal polarization has been used in the study. The measurement results have been compared with those obtained from other locations in Malaysia and some other Published Research works. The study will provide useful information in the microwave link planning and design in tropical regions; and it can also be adapted to satellite communication operating at ka-band.

Comparison of measured rain attenuation in the 10.982-GHz band with predictions and sensitivity analysis
The campaign to collect rain attenuation data on terrestrial links had commenced in Malaysian tropical climates for almost two decades. The terrestrial data so far collected have been greatly utilized to derive useful statistics for various microwave applications, such as frequency scaling, rain rate conversion factor, 1-min rain rate contour maps, wet antenna losses, and fade slope duration an...
متن کاملFractal Koch Multiband Textile Antenna Performance with Bending, Wet Conditions and on the Human Body
A multiband Fractal Koch dipole textile antenna is proposed for wearable applications. The antenna is designed to operate at 0.9 GHz, 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. Denim materials as the substrate are selected aiming to obtain robustness, flexibility and a lightweight textile antenna. The antenna model is designed, simulated, optimized and analyzed using Microwave Studio CST software. Two types of mult...

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...
متن کاملDownlink Coexistence Performance Assessment and Techniques for WiMAX Services from High Altitude Platform and Terrestrial Deployments
We investigate the performance and coexistence techniques for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) delivered from high altitude platforms (HAPs) and terrestrial systems in shared 3.5 GHz frequency bands. The paper shows that it is possible to provide WiMAX services from individual HAP systems. The coexistence performance is evaluated by appropriate choice of parameters, which...
متن کاملSuperconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector
A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...
