چکیده

In this paper, we analyze capacity and spectrum utilization of spectrally overlaid systems using single-code CDMA (SC-CDMA) and multi-code CDMA (MC-CDMA) techniques according to varying system parameters. The spectrum utilization defined as maximally achievable total throughput in the overlaid systems is compared with that of the un-overlaid systems. Analytical results show that the dominant parameter affecting the performance of the overlaid systems is the spectrum overlay ratio. Namely, multiuser interference is a dominant factor to affect the system performance comparing with mutual interference among multiple spreading codes assigned to users. Hence the use of SCCDMA technique is more desirable than MC-CDMA scheme for a higher capacity and spectrum utilization in spectrally overlaid CDMA systems.

Capacities of spectrally overlaid single-code and multicode CDMA systems

This paper is concerned with the capacities of spectrally overlaid narrow-band and wide-band systems using two code-division multiple-access (CDMA) techniques: a single-code and a multicode. The capacity is defined here as the maximally achievable total throughput in the narrow-band and wide-band subsystems. User signal power in the overlay systems affects the performance of the systems. The si...

Capacity Analysis of Spectrally Overlaid Multiband CDMA Mobile Networks

The future (third-generation) mobile communications system will provide not only voice and low-speed data services, but also video and high-speed data services. It will eventually have the capability for wireless multimedia communications. As a radio-access technique for such a system, the code-division multiple access (CDMA) has been considered in many potential third-generation systems includ...

Link Capacity and Signal Power According to Allocations of Spreading Codes and Bandwidth in CDMA Systems

Reverse link performance analysis in singlecode and multi-code CDMA systems is presented. Results show that the single-code system yields better performance than does the multi-code system in terms of link capacity and signal power. This improvement increases as spreading bandwidth is reduced and the number of spreading codes assigned to a user is increased. key words: link capacity, signal pow...

Basic note on Spread Spectrum CDMA signals

In Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems all users transmit in the same bandwidth simultaneously. Communication systems following this concept are "spread spectrum systems''. In this transmission technique, the frequency spectrum of a data-signal is spread using a code uncorrelated with that signal. As a result the bandwidth occupancy is much higher then required. The codes used for spre...
