Multi-Standard Mobile Terminals

چکیده
This paper presents an investigation of a radio receiver architecture to enable multi-standard (GPRS, WCDMA, HiperLAN2) implementation in mobile terminals. The architecture uses partial radio band digitisation at an intermediate frequency. Following circuit progress and industry trends (e.g. Moores law) we estimate components for the proposed architecture with acceptable power consumption to be available within the next 5 years.

Energy saving in multi-standard mobile terminals through short-range cooperation
Multi-standard mobile devices are allowing users to enjoy higher data rates and ubiquitous connectivity. These advances are achieved on the expense of higher energy consumption requirements due to the continuous connectivity and the multiple active wireless interfaces. In this article, we use one advantage of the multiple interfaces, namely short-range (SR) communications. Mobile terminals (MTs...
متن کاملA Generic Description Language for the Automatic Generation of Pervasive Medical User Interfaces: The SEFAGI project
The SEFAGI project (Simple Environment For Adaptable Graphical Interfaces) aims at designing an architecture to adapt applications to multi-terminal environments. Our main objectives are: (i) allow the end-users to describe their user interfaces and automatically generate the entire corresponding code and (ii) make the code generation adaptable to any kind of Java-enabled terminal. Our generato...
متن کاملA channel oriented Joint Transmission scheme for MIMO multi-user downlinks
The paper deals with the downlink of mobile radio systems, where in each cell an access point communicates with a number of mobile terminals, and where both the access point and the mobile terminals are equipped with multi-antennas. Therefore, the entirety of all downlink connections of each cell constitute a multi-user MIMO system. The considered downlink transmission technique is the recently...
متن کاملDesigning Reconfigurable Multi-Standard Analog Baseband Front-End for 4G Mobile Terminals: System Level Design
This paper presents the system-level design of a wireless receiver’s analog baseband front-end, which satisfies the standards of 4G mobile communications. An analysis of different topologies for wireless receivers suited for multistandard purposes is performed. The Zero-IF architecture is chosen and design issues of analog baseband blocks are outlined, regarding a multi-standard solution. A det...
متن کاملRelations with the modeling of channel assignment problems on multi-hop wireless networks and edge coloring problems of graphs
Multi-hop wireless networks [1] are autonomous systems of mobile nodes connected by wireless links and consist of nodes and wireless links. The nodes are classified into two kinds: one is a mobile terminal such as mobile phone, personal computer, handheld computer, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and so on, each of which has a router communication function for other terminals and the other is ...
