Some Observathjns on Microbial Activities in Two Sugarcane Soil Groups

چکیده

Introduction The nature of the processes reported here should not be regarded as occurring independently of other' reactions for the soil has a universe of its own in which a great number of different reactions are occurring simultaneously with one another. The type of investigations conducted below are thus only a part of a great number which can and do occur, and have 'been investigated in the hope that the trends noted will stimulate interest in a fresh line of approach and aid the grower in understanding the microbial universe of his soil.

Cry1Ac Transgenic Sugarcane Does Not Affect the Diversity of Microbial Communities and Has No Significant Effect on Enzyme Activities in Rhizosphere Soil within One Crop Season

Cry1Ac transgenic sugarcane provides a promising way to control stem-borer pests. Biosafety assessment of soil ecosystem for cry1Ac transgenic sugarcane is urgently needed because of the important role of soil microorganisms in nutrient transformations and element cycling, however little is known. This study aimed to explore the potential impact of cry1Ac transgenic sugarcane on rhizosphere soi...

Early changes in arbuscular mycorrhiza development in sugarcane under two harvest management systems

Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is grown on over 8 million ha in Brazil and is used to produce ethanol and sugar. Some sugarcane fields are burned to facilitate harvesting, which can affect the soil microbial community. However, whether sugarcane pre-harvest burning affects the community of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and symbioses development is not known. In this study, we investigated the ...

Soil Fe Forms in Sugarcane Cultivations with Different Utilization Histories

Sugarcane is cultivated in the wide area in Khuzestan province. In these areas, irrigated sugarcane cultivation consumes more than 30,000 cubic meters per hectare annually. This research was carried out to determine the effect of sugarcane cultivation on the soil development process and forms of iron oxides. Different sugarcane fields with different utilization times were selected and soil phys...

Microbial Activity and Phosphorus Availability in A Subtropical Soil under Different Land Uses

Land use changes in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) of south Florida may alter microbial activity and organic matter decomposition and ultimately influence the fate of P in soil. The objectives of this study were to determine effects of long-term cultivation and fertilization on microbial activity and P dynamics for contrasting land uses in the EAA. Soils (0-15 cm) under pasture for 100 ...

Composition of the Soil Microbial Community under Sugarcane Production as Indicated by Phospholipid Fatty Acid Analysis

Phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analysis was used to characterise the microbial communities in the soil under long-term pre-harvest burning of sugarcane and several other land uses, and on a long-term experiment comparing sugarcane burnt before harvest and sugarcane harvested green with retention of a trash blanket. Trends in total PLFAs (total microbial biomass) followed the order: kikuyu pastu...
