چکیده
We present the first experimental demonstration and characterization of the application of optical physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems. It combines two optical OFDM frames to share the same link so as to enhance system throughput, while individual OFDM frames can be recovered with digital signal processing at the destined node.

Effect of Transmission Impairments in CO-OFDM Based Elastic Optical Network Design
Coherent Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CO-OFDM) based Elastic Optical Network (EON) is one of the emerging technologies being considered for next generation high data rate optical network systems. Routing and Spectrum Allocation (RSA) is an important aspect of EON. Apart from spectral fragmentation created due to spectrum continuity and contiguity constraints of RSA, trans...
متن کاملA Radial Basis Function Network for Adaptive Channel Equalization in Coherent Optical OFDM Systems
Artificial neural network based equalizers can be used for equalization in coherent optical OFDM systems. The artificial neural network based multilayer layer perceptron is a feed-forward network consists of one hidden layer with one or more hidden nodes between its input and output layers and can be trained by using back propagation algorithm. However, this algorithm suffers from slow converge...
متن کاملTime-Varying Frequency Fading Channel Tracking In OFDM-PLNC System, Using Kalman Filter
Physical-layer network coding (PLNC) has the ability to drastically improve the throughput of multi-source wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on the problem of channel tracking in a Decode-and-Forward (DF) OFDM PLNC system. We proposed a Kalman Filter-based algorithm for tracking the frequency/time fading channel in this system. Tracking of the channel is performed in the t...
متن کاملCoherent optical OFDM: has its time come? [Invited]
There has been growing interest in coherent optical orthogonal frequencydivision multiplexing (CO-OFDM). We aim to present the case that the time for CO-OFDM has come, in terms of the demand from today’s ever-advancing optical networks and the availability of its underlying technologies. We first lay out the signal processing aspect for CO-OFDM and then show a 2 2 multiple-input–multiple-output...
متن کاملOptimal SVD-based Precoding for Secret Key Extraction from Correlated OFDM Sub-Channels
Secret key extraction is a crucial issue in physical layer security and a less complex and, at the same time, a more robust scheme for the next generation of 5G and beyond. Unlike previous works on this topic, in which Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) sub-channels were considered to be independent, the effect of correlation between sub-channels on the secret key rate is address...
