Multi-Tier Architecture
نویسنده
چکیده
Definition A Multi-tier Architecture is a software architecture in which different software components, organized in tiers (layers), provide dedicated functionality. The most common occurrence of a multi-tier architecture is a three-tier architecture consisting of a data management tier (mostly encompassing one or several database servers), an application tier (business logic) and a client tier (interface functionality). Novel deployments come with additional tiers. Web information systems, for instance, encompass a dedicated tier (web tier) between client and application layer. Conceptually, a multi-tier architecture results from a repeated application of the client/server paradigm. A component in one of the middle tiers is client to the next lower tier and at the same time acts as server to the next higher tier.

MTPHs, an Aesthetic Aspect of Local Architecture of Lenjanat
Among the variety and diversity of pigeon houses, Multi-Tier Pigeon Houses (MTPHs) are distinguished from the functional and aesthetic point of view and are considered as a specific local architectural sights of Lenjanat. However, few studies have been conducted to study this type of pigeon house and these constructs have remained unknown. In this study we have conducted library and field studi...
متن کاملModelling- and Simulation-Based Design of Multi-tier Systems
This paper introduces a domain-specific language for modelling and simulationbased design of multi-tier systems. Multi-tier systems are complex and very few general models have been developed. Rather, models are always dedicated to a specific architecture. Our approach allows for rapid experimentation with different multi-tier alternatives. Not only parameters, but also structure can be drastic...
متن کاملMulti-Tier Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Architecture, Protocols, and Performance
While mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) research has received a considerable attention in recent years, the majority of them have focused on single-tier (e.g., ground) and homogeneous (e.g., same radio for every node) MANET. Few have investigated the potential implications of multi-tier and heterogeneous natures of MANET on the design and performance of MANET protocols in a systematic manner. Fo...
متن کاملMulti-Tier Communication Abstractions for Distributed Mult-Agent Systems
Most Multi-Agent System (MAS) architectures use a single communication model for sharing of data, propagation of tasking, and negotiation for services. We describe the Cougaar distributed multi-tiered MAS infrastructure which uses different communication techniques at each tier to gain large-scale parallelization, scalability and asynchronous operation without sacrificing the ability to support...
متن کاملCoordinated session-based admission control with statistical learning for multi-tier internet applications
Popular Internet applications deploy a multi-tier architecture, with each tier provisioning a certain functionality to its preceding tier. In this paper, we address the challenging session-based admission control issue for multi-tier Internet applications. The session-based admission control approach (SBAC) designed for a single Web server is not effective for a multi-tier architecture. This is...
