چکیده

This paper characterizes the degrees of freedom (DoF) regions for the multi-user vector broadcast channel with periodic channel state information (CSI) feedback. As a part of the characterization, a new transmission method called spacetime interference alignment is proposed, which exploits both the current and past CSI jointly. Using the proposed alignment technique, an inner bound of the sum-DoF region is characterized as a function of a normalized CSI feedback frequency, which measures CSI feedback speed compared to the speed of user’s channel variations. One consequence of the result is that the achievable sum-DoF gain is improved significantly when a user sends back both current and outdated CSI compared to the case where the user sends back current CSI only. Then, a trade-off between CSI feedback delay and the sum-DoF gain is characterized for the multi-user vector broadcast channel in terms of a normalized CSI feedback delay that measures CSI obsoleteness compared to channel coherence time. A crucial insight is that it is possible to achieve the optimal DoF gain if the feedback delay is less than a derived fraction of the channel coherence time. This precisely characterizes the intuition that a small delay should be negligible.

The DoF Region of the Multiple-Antenna Time Correlated Interference Channel with Delayed CSIT

We consider the time-correlated multiple-antenna interference channel where the transmitters have (i) delayed channel state information (CSI) obtained from a latency-prone feedback channel as well as (ii) imperfect current CSIT, obtained e.g. from prediction on the basis of these past channel samples. We derive the degrees of freedom (DoF) region for the two-user multiple-antenna interference c...

On the Degrees of Freedom of MISO Broadcast Channels with Delayed Feedback

In information theoretic analysis of communication over MIMO broadcast channels, two extreme assumptions about availability of the channel state information (CSI) at the base station are usually made; either perfect CSI is available at the transmitter, or no CSI is available at all. However, in practical systems, there is usually CSI feedback but the feedback is subject to delays. Conventionall...

Optimal Sum-DoF of the K-user MISO BC with Current and Delayed Feedback

This work identifies the optimal sum degrees-of-freedom (DoF) of the K-user MISO Broadcast Channel (BC), in the presence of delayed channel-state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and additional current CSIT of imperfect precision. In a setting where the current channel estimation error scales — in the high SNR regime — as SNR−α for α ∈ [0, 1], the optimal sum-DoF takes the simple form (1 −...

Degrees-of-Freedom Region of Time Correlated MISO Broadcast Channel with Perfect Delayed CSIT and Asymmetric Partial Current CSIT

The impact of imperfect CSIT on the degrees of freedom (DoF) of a time correlated MISO Broadcast Channel has drawn a lot of attention recently. Maddah-Ali and Tse have shown that the completely stale CSIT still benefit the DoF. In very recent works, Yang et al. have extended the results by integrating the partial current CSIT for a two-user MISO broadcast channel. However, those researches so f...

Distributed Space-Time Interference Alignment

This paper proposes an interference alignment method with distributed and delayed channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) for a class of interference networks. The core idea of the proposed method is to align interference signals over time at the unintended receivers in a distributed manner. With the proposed method, trade-off regions between the sum of degrees of freedom (sum-DoF) ...
