Solitary Cavernous Sinus Neurosarcoidosis Mimicking Neurosyphilis

چکیده
A differential diagnosis between neurosarcoidosis and neurosyphilis is particularly problematic in patients with a positive serologic result for syphilis. We report here a patient with a solitary cavernous sinus sarcoidosis who had a history of syphilis and showed rapidly progressing cavernous sinus syndrome. A transsphenoidal biopsy was performed and a histopathologic examination revealed a non-caseating granuloma with an asteroid body. His facial pain disappeared after steroid therapy. He received oral prednisolone for one year. A follow-up magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed resolution of the mass over the cavernous sinus. Particularly in patients with a history of syphilis, neurosyphilis should be included in a differential diagnosis of neurosarcoidosis.

Cavernous sinus cavernous hemangioma largely extending into the sella turcica and mimicking pituitary adenoma: case report.
A 77-year-old female presented with a rare cavernous sinus cavernous hemangioma with extension to the sella turcica, neuroradiologically mimicking nonfunctioning pituitary macroadenoma. The lesion was partially removed via transsphenoidal surgery, and the histological diagnosis was cavernous hemangioma. After stereotactic radiosurgery using a cyber knife, the lesion decreased in size. Stereotac...
متن کاملMarginal sinus arteriovenous fistulas mimicking carotid cavernous fistulas: diagnostic and therapeutic considerations.
Marginal sinus fistulas (MSFs) are uncommon vascular anomalies. Occasionally, the dominant venous drainage is forced retrograde up the inferior petrosal sinus and into the cavernous sinus, causing chemosis, proptosis, and ocular hypertension, mimicking a carotid cavernous fistula. This atypical clinical presentation may lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate hazardous treatment of an MSF. Ident...

We report a case of 15-yr-old child that was presented with headache, polyuria, polydipsia, recent ocular motor and abducens nerve palsies and rapid visual loss. He had a long history of progressive symmetric muscular weakness predominant in the lower limb girdle. Water deprivation revealed central diabetes insipidus. Hormonal explorations demonstrated preserved pituitary function with mild hyp...
متن کاملUnusual presentation of sarcoidosis: solitary intracranial mass lesion mimicking an intracranial neoplasm: a case report
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disease of unknown cause and with a worldwide distribution. Involvement of the central nervous system occurs in a relatively small number of patients with sarcoidosis. Isolated neurosarcoidosis without signs of systemic disease however is a rare. In this report, we present an unusual case of neurosarcoidosis with intra cranial mass mimicking radiologically a glioma....

Bilateral cavernous sinus and optic nerve metastases is extremely rare. We report an extremely rare case of metastatic adenocarcinoma of bilateral cavernous sinus and optic nerve with unknown primary presenting as orbital pseudotumor. She underwent bilateral optic nerve decompression and the diagnosis was established by biopsy.
